The Hunger Games Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

Anyone else here seen this? I just saw it earlier today.

It was great, although I think the first 45 minutes or so were a bit choppy. They were trying to cram in as much as possible, and so everything felt a little rushed. That said, once the battle in the Arena actually started, the movie flowed fantastically. For a PG-13 movie, they actually managed to cram in a fair amount of brutal scenes, such as the battle at the Cornucopia, Cato casually snapping that guy's neck, and particularly Thresh killing knife-girl by slamming her into the Cornucopia.

One thing that helped with the movie was that they weren't limited to Katniss's POV. That allowed them to show scenes with Seneca Crane, President Snow, and District 11 that really added the film, but which were impossible to do in the book (the riot in District 11 was particularly amazing, and sets things up well for the next movie).
