More recent comics imply that the helmet contains some sort of HUD system, IIRC.

So Judge Dredd is fighting his way through a two hundred story skyscraper to take down a drug maker who makes a bullet-time drug that's called Slow-mo and speeds up your perceptions on a 100/1 scale. I like the drug idea unless junkie start dodging bullets on it. It takes 2000/1 before bullets start looking like baseballs throw across your vision.

Also Judge Dredd has a female sidekick, and he delivers his "I am the law" line all quiet and intense like instead of all traditional with a slight slur at the top of your lungs.

Ah yes, wondering why it tickled something in the back of my mind perhaps because of this?. Bloody eye (AKA Red Eye) does the same thing except it's has a massive amount of steroids and uppers mixed in to give you that crazy junky strength to boot. But yeah moving your head sideways fast enough to dodge a bullet requires sufficient acceleration to snap your neck like a twig.

Is there some prestige to the helmet, like need to be a certain rank to wear it? When storming a building don't see why the sidekick judges aren't wearing them. Hoping it's something like took damage earlier, not we need to see her face for acting reasons. The firefight exchanges looked like more than small arms, the druggies seem well equipped. In the comic is there anything else the Judges use to counter heavier weapons? Like it's been said few posts up the drug effect can be easily over done so hope they don't Max Payne it too much.

I'm sure she's not wearing the helmet for the same reason sly didn't wear his during the first Judge Dredd film.

To be fair, if that is Judge Anderson, then her character didn't tend to wear a helmet in the comics either.

That is Judge Anderson, and in the script she specifically says she's not wearing the helmet because it interferes with her abilities- the premise of the movie is that she's with Dredd on a ride along to act as an assessment as to whether or not she becomes a judge.

Yeah, except more like "The Raid: Judge Dredd" edition, because production started way earlier on Dredd than on The Raid.
