What bothered me most about this film was simply the lazy writing.

All of the characters were basically film stereotypes put there to make sure there were people to kill in different ways.

We had: 1. Frat boy scientist 2. Nerdy afraid scientist 3. Angry rage for no reason scientist 4. Idealistic and strong woman scientist,

yet none of them acted at all like scientists!

Seriously these were the people picked for a trillion dollar mission and they don't even obey the most basic contamination protocols? Taking off your helmet in a breathable atmosphere with obvious liquid is equally insane if not more so than doing it in an unbreathable one.

Even their robot acted like a total moron, touching every liquid he could get his hands on. Sure he probably can't get infected, maybe he can't feel pain, but he still doesn't know that what ever he's touching isn't caustic and will melt his robot fingers. Maybe they can be easily replaced, but wouldn't that jeopardize or at least inconvenience the mission, not to mention cost the company for new robot hands?

Others have mentioned the stupidity of Rage and Nerdy trying to touch the alien worm.

From there we just have tons of movie tropes, the "creepy" Rage scientist turned into the killer zombie reminiscent of "The Thing", the race to cut the alien out of your belly, yet you are magically able to walk, run, and even jump after having your abdominal muscles completely lacerated, the strong woman being the only one to survive, yet SURPRISE, there is an alien in her life pod. Seriously didn't Ridley Scott do that exact same thing at the end of every alien movie? He stole his own trope from himself.

We also were treated to Self-sacrificing minorities, but that's not even worth going into.

Over all I'd say it's a complete fail if not for the stunning images in the first 10 minutes of the film. They should have stopped at the beautiful image of space and kept it there, I could have watched that for an hour.
