you forgot blindingly obvious blue-screen artifacts (granted that was pretty much impossible to avoid in the pre CGI era but still).Stark wrote:Kids just don't know what practical effects look like. ED-209 has bad lighting and moves with no mass, I wouldn't even call it very good stop-motion. But nobody really minds.

Yeah it wasn't very good, the whole Robocop movie was made on a modest budget so I'm sure cost held them back.Stark wrote:Kids just don't know what practical effects look like. ED-209 has bad lighting and moves with no mass, I wouldn't even call it very good stop-motion. But nobody really minds.

You're right about Bradbury, but the stop-motion Ray you're thinking of is Ray Harryhausen (I'm pretty sure the last movie he did was the original Clash of the Titans).
I don't like being a bastard, but they leave me no choice.

Re: New Robocop teaser
That is correct on all counts sir!, Harryhousen was a god of great stop motion, and sometime I get the two confused, his last film as a special effects mdeler was the original clash of the titans. Since than he's been and associate producer of the new Titans movies, and appeared in the 2009 Burke and Hare film, along with Christopher Lee and some others...
