Offer them a trade deal they can't refuse and gradually move people in until the number of socialist-leaning people outnumber the amount of Objectivist-leaning people.
Also. Didn't notice this before, but just so you know.
The United States traded with the USSR.
The USSR traded with the Nazis.

Neither nations became communist or nazi because of it.

Hmm. Looks like you're right on the military aspects, then. As for trade, I specifically mentioned moving people in for a reason. The point is to have enough socialists enter that the Objectivists eventually become outnumbered, the point being that if done slowly enough, immigration patterns will win things for you.

You need to move at least a billion socialists in.

If you had that many socialists to spare (and assuming rogue rednecks don't gun them down/lynch em), then the invasion would be a lot easier IN THE FIRST PLACE.

You're assuming things beyond the scenario.

And even if you only move in a few million per year, it would take centuries to fully subjugate this world, long after this war is over.

The Soviet government did not think German engineers were a threat to their rule either...

I was thinking that possibly the East India Company would be an instructive model for pacification by profit, but it basically seems to be a complicated wrangle of continuous cock-ups, insights and exploits that delivered india to the british almost by accident.

So that's my plan. We form a well defended enclave on the planet's surface, and see what happens....

That is exactly the plan. I said it would be slow. It'd be shortened a bit by the Space USSR's areas being more prosperous, as per the scenario. Taking a bit from madd0ct0r's idea, form essentially a reverse West Berlin and allow any commoners to flee over from crappier conditions.

I'd like to point out AGAIN that people would only be moving in until the Space NKVD begins to abduct and torture subversive counterrevolutionaries. At that point the Space USSR suddenly loses a lot of its appeal.

where did you get the idea for the space NKVD from? it's not specified in the OP, and intorrgators are not included in the force roster.

also, we ain't dealing with american lifestlye libertopians:
The Freehold of Galt has numerous corporations that hold power and keep some semblance of order with a weak central government. The planet has widespread poverty, low standards of living for most of its population (comparable to china, India or South America). The planet has a varied terrain much like earth's, from rainforests, forests, mountains, large boggy swamps, grasslands, tunda and 73% of it being ocean. It has twelve continents spread across the planet.

Socialism = communism = USSR = evil, as everybody knows. Simply by mentioning the word socialism in the title, the OP included diabolical anti-productive torturers totally out of the control of the mission commander. You simply can't have one without the other.

Dude, Zor used clear Soviet imagery and references. Seriously, you have been given this task by the People's Star Navy of the Union of Socialist Worlds, which uses space dreadnaughts named after heroes of the USSR, organize their infantry along Soviet lines and calls wars of conquest "Liberating this world from its own backwardsness and rebuilding it into a prosperous proper socialist state."

They are clearly a social liberal democracy, and not at all an ideologically driven totalitarian moloch heavily inspired by the USSR of old :D

We're not, but for the colonization plan to work your enclaves have to be significantly more attractive than the rest of the planet, rather than a choice of "Be somewhat opressed by the corporations and live in poverty" vs. "Be totally opressed by the communists but live somewhat comfortably", which a lot of people are going to have genuine trouble with.

Especially since you can bet the corps will be propagandizing the "be opressed" parts and glossing over the "live like a human being" parts.

If Galtworld sends out libertarian revolutionary volunteer brigades to bug the Socialist empire, I presumes that it is well known that socialism is terrible.

well, maybe, but there ain't any security services specified in the OP, hell I don't even see a politcal commisariat.
NKVD type oppressors might* emerge with the fullness of time, but not DURING the military pacification. I really don't think they're an important factor in the early stage of invasion we're looking at.

Also - "Be somewhat opressed by the corporations and live in poverty" vs. "Be totally opressed by the communists but live somewhat comfortably", - in my experience at least, most of the population will choose comfort over ideology. It's the bargain the Chinese made for a start.

I mean, if you're dead poor and thus powerless in an libertarian society and you've the chance to be comfortable but still relatively powerless - what have you got to loose?

*almost certainly infact, but it took a few years for them to get going in any of the commie states i can think of

Compare immigration to the Soviet Union to immigration to the United States.
Or immigration to the United States and immigration to Cuba.
