This is it, the midseason climax for Revolution. We open with a flashback to the Trenton campaign, which occurred five years after the Blackout. Miles Matheson and Sebastian Monroe are in an infantry battle, and "Bass" promises that he would not leave Miles's side.
Meanwhile, Miles and co. are in Philadelphia. They meet up with Kip, a friend of Miles. Kip agrees to let them stay at his house. Miles decides to go out to the streets of Philly and look for Danny.
In the meantime, Major Tom Neville interrupts General Monroe at his home. Neville advises that Monroe retreat to a house in Boston, but Monroe rejects that advice.
Back at Kip's house... Spoiler
Militia soldiers burst in and apprehend Charlie, Aaron, and Nora. Major Neville tells them that it was easy to track them, as Kip was one of the few friends Miles had still living in Philly. Neville tranquilizes Charlie.
After that... Spoiler
Charlie is placed in a cell, and she meets her mom, Rachel Matheson, finally finding out that she is alive. Sergeant Strausser makes a comment on how pretty the ladies are.
Spoiler
Neville comes home. He looks and sees Miles, holding his wife Julia at swordedge. Miles demands his family in exchange for Julia's life. Neville capitulates.
Spoiler
Charlie reunites with Danny, whom she had not seen since "Soul Train". Danny is visibly bruised. Charlie then meets General Monroe for the first time.
Spoiler
Neville releases Aaron and Nora from custody. Miles asks where Danny and Charlie are, and Neville says they were taken to the power plant under Monroe's orders. Miles then shoves Tom and Julia into a closet, barring the door with some heavy furniture.
Later... Spoiler
Monroe tells Rachel to turn on the amplifier which would increase the range of the pendants. Rachel is reluctant, and then Sergeant Strausser aims a pistol at her children. Monroe says that Rachel will have to choose which of her children will die. Charlie tells her mom not to help Monroe, and she suiddenly gets in front of the pistol barrel and volunteers to get shot. Rachel capitulates, agreeing to activate the amplifier. Monroe orders Strausser to kill the kids if Rachel even looks like she is going to do some sabotage. Rachel inserts the pendant into the amplifier, and it glows. A flashlight nearby turns on.
Miles, Nora, and Aaron reach the power plant. They wonder how to get in, and aaron has an idea, which is to sneak in through a drainage pipe. Nora gives Aaron some pipe bombs in case something goes wrong, so he can blow open an escape route.
As Miles and Nora infiltrate the plant, Charlie and Danny make their own escape plan. Opening a rather large vent, they are caught by a guard, whom Charlie strikes down with the vent grill. Charlie takes the automatic rifle and she and Danny leave through the door. Charlie says she will have to learn how to fire a rifle.
In the meantime, Strausser attacks Rachel as she is working. She says that Monroe wants her alive, and Strausser says it is more fun if Rachel is alive. Rachel then stabs Strausser in the chest, killing him.
Spoiler
Charlie and Danny sneak through the plant, with her firing the rifle and not hitting anything. They are confronted by a guard, who suddenly sprouts a sword blade through his chest. Miles Matheson had arrived just in time. Charlie and Danny make their escape while Miles looks for Monroe. Along the way, Miles meets Rachel, who then slaps him. (She had surrendered to the milita while he was the commanding general.) Meanwhile, aaron hears the gunfire, and attempts to light the pipe bombs, but the match does not work.
Spoiler
Miles meets Sebastian Monroe. After gunning down hisd guards, Miles aims his rifle, while Monroe aims his pistol. The general puts dowen his pistol, saying he can not shoot his family and making a speech about how he needed him, offering to let Miles's family leave if Miles came back to the Militia. Miles puts down his rifle, and then says he is sorry. Sorry that he did not kill him the first time he tried. After a few seconds of Monroe digesting those words, a swordfight ensues.
Finally... Spoiler
The swordfight is interrupted when some more guards arrive. Miles escapes, and Mopnrioe tells the guards to kill Miles. He rejoions Charlie, Danny, Rachel, and Nora at a courtyard. But there is no apparent exit.
Aaron uses a tool to create a spark, lighting a fuse. He gets away just before the biomb explodes. It clears the way for Miles and the others to escape.
OPutside, they hear a thumping sound. Charlie and Danny are unfamiliar with it, but Miles, Nora, and Rachel recognize the sound. It is a helicopter.
Here are my observations. Spoiler
I liked the swordfight.
I liked the flashback scenes, showing the friendship between Miles and Bass, which extending back to their boyhoods. They even came up with the symbol that would later be used by the Monroe Republic.
There is a touching flashback when Bass mourns the loss of his whole family, who were apparently killed by a drunk driver on the way to see a Harry Potter movie.
Apparently, the amplifier is on board the helicopter, as revealed in the preview of the upcoming episodes next year. This is risky. While guided missiles no longer work, a machine gun or a rocket launcher can down the helicopter, which would likely destroy the amplifier and even result in the loss of the pendant. And while enemy forces would not expect a helicopter, they would expect balloons and gliders, and weapons that can hit a balloon or a glider could hit a helicopter.
So, Miles is either a liar or a moron, as Monroe threw his weapon away first, and if he really meant nothing to him, he could have just shot him down right there and then.

Or he was still conflicted- in the previous episode, he was unsure if he would accept his old job if Monroe offered it to him.
