Or is it impossible for the human body to explode like this without an explosive?
Also...shouldn't the bones and skin and hair be...pancaked against the wall?
...sorry. I am just trying to figure things out.

Magic/technobabble. Even if you bury high explosives in her, there's no way you'll end up with her splattered all over the landscape but her garments remaining largely intact (check the last picture).

So what SHOULD have happened when the ghosts ram her at high speed at the wall with the intent to kill and make the body stick to the wall with lots of blood?Batman wrote:Magic/technobabble. Ghosts. The laws of physics just took a coffee break. That being said, while I may be able to come up with a scenario that would end up with her being smashed up against the wall dead with lots of blood, I can't think of any restricted to real world physics that would end up with her sticking to it nor resulting in the presented visuals.

So what visual should appear if she is smashed up against the wall with lots of blood?
Also...what if someone just kept pressing the body until the wall until it...is pancaked to a paper thin width on the wall. Would the body still fall of it?

Re: What are the physics needed to turn a human body from...
Well for starters, that doesn't look like pancaked paper-thin to begin with, she just seems to be smashed up against the wall. Also, while I can attest that blood can do a lot of staining for surprisingly little volumes of blood (both in and out of character) this doesn't look doable to me. Also, I don't think you could get that much blood out of the body (leave alone that much of it conveniently hitting the wall, rather than just soiling the general environments) by simply smashing it against the wall. Certainly not if you did with the limited force evidenced by the pictures, which show both the body and the wall largely intact.

Re: What are the physics needed to turn a human body from...
Lets just put it this way -- there are artists who depict gore this severe in a realistic and anatomically detailed fashion. It's something I sincerely would never want to see but it's out there.
Given that the supernatural is involved, they can depict whatever they want. They can squish a body however they want. They are in a warped reality zone, right? They could easily justify the usual anime high-pressure blood fountain for any injury since what characters see is influenced by the ghosts.
In other words, I don't really think the physical realism of this story is the important part, convincingly portraying mental states in a survival horror setting is the important part, especially with spooks. If this was a reality-based scenario then strict realism would enhance the authenticity.

Batman is just being a pain and should be ignored when he says "Ghosts, LOL". Ghosts are an excuse for the event depicted, but if you want attention to detail, I can still tell you what would happen.kilopi505 wrote:So what SHOULD have happened when the ghosts ram her at high speed at the wall with the intent to kill and make the body stick to the wall with lots of blood?Batman wrote:Magic/technobabble. There would be a hole in the wall unless it was made of solid steel, with the body either on the other side of said hole or partially stuck in it. Since this is a Japanese grade school and not a military bunker, an interior wall like that is probably just made of wood or drywall, neither of which have the tensile strength to turn someone to pulp without also breaking. Other materials it could be made of include brick and concrete, but those too can still break at these forces depending on their thickness.
The bones of the person would be broken, and the victim would likely die from a head injury or massive trauma. Or not, depending on how they hit the wall-- they would certainly be in critical condition no matter what, but its remotely possible to see someone living through such an impact. Again, because the structural integrity of the wall will fail just as much as the victim's bones would. There wouldn't be that much blood in any case, because as usual with fictional gore there is far more blood present than real human bodies produce. Its actually an artistic license made to make it look less disturbing than reality, which is far more horrifying. Consider that there are other bodily fluids... and organ matter... there would be bits of brain scattered around... and bone... Have fun with your new nightmares.
Basically, look at the results of car accidents. People have been thrown through the glass windshield of their cars and twenty feet from their vehicle and some have lived to talk about it. Motorcycles too, though unlike here motorcyclists wear helmets. The higher the speed, the much lower the chance of survival, of course. Plus people flung from cars aren't unlikely to collide with objects like walls and trees.

Ghetto edit: A thought occurs to me, about the hole in the wall issue, that an artist could use that fact to do some type of discretion shot-- the gruesome results lie beyond a wall, but you only show the hole and leave it up to the viewer's imagination what happened to the body. Then it looks realistic, and no one has to lose their lunch.

Wait a minute, I think I do know one. Anyone knows a chap named gabriel blessing in fanfiction.net?
He's one of the most famous fanfic writers as of the last...three years.
Also, thanks for the description. Now I have something concrete to describe in my story.

Do also note that it would take a lot less force to just kill someone than to horribly mangle their corpse. A blow to the head doesn't even need to break the skull to cause internal bleeding and brain death.

Formless what about rather than a single impact about five to ten seconds of high pressure? IE Ghost holds to wall then applies X pounds per square inch over a longer time. Part of the problem with a single solid impact is the necessary transfer of energy. However consider our ghost holding out hypothetical crushing the victim to death over several seconds rather than half a second of blunt force trauma.

Well, there is the fact that the school's structure randomly fails, and sometimes were unbreakable since they aren't just walls anymore but...what did Naho call it?Mr Bean wrote:Formless what about rather than a single impact about five to ten seconds of high pressure? Re: What are the physics needed to turn a human body from...
I think you would still bulldoze the wall in the process. Especially if it was over a mere 15 seconds or less. Maybe it would spread the pressure around better, but that just means that a larger section of the wall collapses. Without blunt force trauma, you are talking about a significant amount of pressure to kill someone and mutilate the corpse.Mr Bean wrote:Formless what about rather than a single impact about five to ten seconds of high pressure? Who knows? I may rag on Batman, but this does qualify for the "ghosts, lol" treatment. Technobabble is just another word for Authorial Fiat. At that point, you could justify anything from disintegration to spaghettification like a black hole.kilopi505 wrote:Well, there is the fact that the school's structure randomly fails, and sometimes were unbreakable since they aren't just walls anymore but...what did Naho call it?

Re: What are the physics needed to turn a human body from...
I'd just handwave it as some peculiar sort of ghost TK.. maybe instead of flinging it against something at high power, it uses some sort of applied pressure (internal or external, not sure) to rupture the body. I mean if its TK there's any number of possible ways one could contrive to cause the effects given.

Re: What are the physics needed to turn a human body from...
Maybe you should be less of an ass and actually read what he's saying? He actually said 'ghosts lol' was appropriate despite ragging on you, which leads me to think his response to you was aimed at the absence of an actual explanation beyond just 'MAGIC'. Just because its magic does not mean its suddenly arbitrary and bereft of logic, or that we're incapable of describing it, and your response comes off as completely the opposite.
I frankly would rag on you too if I thought you were going 'magic=arbitrary' because I think its mindless bullshit.
Now, as far as the image goes, I wouldn't assume its neccesarily the ghosts throwing her into wall via high speed collision (although if they can like, telekinetically reinforce the wall and she does get thrown there on impact, that might be possible.) Frankly, it looks ot me more like it would be a 'precision' feat, like they're doing it that way more for the visual and psychological effect (induce terror, pain, suffering, or from malice) rather than a desire to efficiently kill. Maybe they caused some series of internal ruptures or something, for example. Wouldn't be as 'brute force' but it could achieve more precision and without the side effects we'd expect.

Re: What are the physics needed to turn a human body from...
You're both wrong, except insofar as Batman is an ass. kilopi505 asked what should * happen to someone who is thrown violently against a wall in a manner similar to the event this manga intended to depict. Now, I didn't know at the time that the walls themselves were magic in this story, so in that context saying "Who knows? Ghosts, dude" is unhelpful and stupid. Once we know that these aren't ordinary wood and plaster walls, then we can invoke ignorance for the answer to his question.
* Let me emphasize this again. kilopi505 wasn't asking for an explanation, but whether or not this event is possible, and if not then what should happen.

You're automatically right about me being an ass, I'm the Batman afterall, but I thought the original question was how would you need to throw a person at a wall to get the depicted result with no other qualifiers-which, apparently, is a lot more achievable than I assumed.

Because your answer to the followup question "what SHOULD happen" was an asinine "physics take a coffee break", dumbfuck. A complete non-answer that only reveals you don't understand the point of asking "SHOULD".
