G.I. Joe Retaliation Plot Holes...

Post by AndroAsc »

Strange that I did not see a thread on this movie, so I thought I would start one.

My biggest gripe was that the sequel had a weak connection to the first movie.
1) Why is it that most of the Joes did not return for the sequel? I could only recognize Duke, and he died early on. I was expecting the entire cast to return, but we get >50% new faces...
2) How could the Joes get wiped out in a single copter attack? WTF... the first movie showed that the Joes were very well funded, and there was definitely more than a handful of them (much more than whatever was showed on screen).
3) Zartan messing up his mannerisms when acting as the President? Didn't the first movie emphasized about how much trouble he went through to learn how to behave like the President? Come on, mixing up pop for soda is a noob's mistake.
4) How could Zartan so easily convince people to replace the Joes with Cobra... weren't Cobra the antagonist in the first movie? That's like the President announcing that Al-Qaeda is going to replace the a military strike force that went rogue, totally WTF...
5) How the fuck does Project Zeus gets constructed in complete secrecy? Really, SEVEN orbital weapon platforms and nobody notices their construction? Not the US, not a single nation on this planet???
6) Who the fuck is the General dude, and what's his background? I don't recall seeing him in the last movie, in fact it was a different General who was the CO for the Joes.

Only fucking morons would say anything negative about a movie with "G.I. Joe" in the title. What are you. Al Qaeda?

I'm curious if it's still crazy and stupid and fun. The first movie was totally choice and was full of absurdity.

On the other hand everything Bruce Willis has touched since Sin City has been actual physical dogshit.

Why the fuck would you criticize anything the great Bruce Willis has done. He is a national treasure.

Did you see that movie he was in with the new Superman? The guy from the Tudors?

No, you didn't, because it was fucking horrid.

Stark, don't waste your time with this dude. He's either a really obvious troll or twelve years old, possibly both.

Either way, nothing good can come from engaging with him.
And this is why you don't watch anything produced by Ronald D. Moore after he had his brain surgically removed and replaced with a bag of elephant semen.-Gramzamber, on why Caprica sucks

I saw it last Sunday. It was... meh. I kinda felt dirty, whereas with the first film, it was wondering how we haven't made a hypersonic fighter that uses sonic guns activated only by Gaelic voice commands. Also, sinking ice.

I like how they fixed the Channing Tatum being killed off thing by not changing him being killed off. I actually didn't even notice he was dead until I realised I was watching The Rock, some guy and Onscreen Sex Icon roaming a ghetto.

Rest assured, Bruce Willis adds nothing to this.

Despite all that, it was still better than the last Die Hard.

Well Snake Eyes was back. Not sure on the rest of the cast, though I'm willing to put up with it since their sacrifice saved us from more Marlon Wayans.
2) How could the Joes get wiped out in a single copter attack? WTF... the first movie showed that the Joes were very well funded, and there was definitely more than a handful of them (much more than whatever was showed on screen).
Zartan's press conference makes it sound like he had the whole organization attacked, the strike on the desert was just the only one we got to see.
3) Zartan messing up his mannerisms when acting as the President? Didn't the first movie emphasized about how much trouble he went through to learn how to behave like the President? Come on, mixing up pop for soda is a noob's mistake.
A few changes in word choice aren't going to give him away to anyone who doesn't already have suspicions.
4) How could Zartan so easily convince people to replace the Joes with Cobra... weren't Cobra the antagonist in the first movie? That's like the President announcing that Al-Qaeda is going to replace the a military strike force that went rogue, totally WTF...
Nobody actually heard it called that in the first movie IIRC. MARS probably caught all the blame.
5) How the fuck does Project Zeus gets constructed in complete secrecy? Really, SEVEN orbital weapon platforms and nobody notices their construction? Not the US, not a single nation on this planet???
Like nobody noticed Cobra's giant ice base? Come on, building super weapons and facilities is Cobra's thing!
6) Who the fuck is the General dude, and what's his background? I don't recall seeing him in the last movie, in fact it was a different General who was the CO for the Joes.
He's not their commander, he's a retired former member (probably a founding one judging by what Roadblock says).

It's a terrible movie and I loved the first one. This one forgot it was GI Joe and just added the name, some guns and a few visuals to an otherwise crappy revenge/conspiracy angle. 'Onscreen Sex Icon' was far and away the most memorable thing in this film.

I liked RED as well, I think the problem is many of her more recent films have been films "WITH BRUCE WILLIS" rather than films with him in them. This one particularly seems to be a film where they decided to have a few scene's with Bruce Willis so they could put them in the trailer and get a few more customers.
