Unless it's an Elseworlds, and Batman gets EXTERMINATED to show how dark this comic really is.
Re: You get a Dalek in a Jar (RAR!)
Or if he's 1960s Batman I'm sure he'd have "anti-Dalek" repellent on his utility belt, just in case

Re: You get a Dalek in a Jar (RAR!)
Maybe it's 1930s Batman and he just shoots the Dalek?
Re: You get a Dalek in a Jar (RAR!)
Maybe he's 1920's Zorro and he just slashes a Z in the Dalek's face before shooting him?

Re: You get a Dalek in a Jar (RAR!)
I think the important thing to ask ourselves here is, what would Captain Janeway do about a Dalek?

Try to negotiate with it and afford it human rights. Give it a shuttle craft and trust it will reform itself.

Stop roleplaying a comic character, it's annoying, and it's a non-answer, it's basically spam. If someone posts a 'Batman vs Unarmoured Dalek' thread, go to town, but this isn't it.Batman wrote:All you get to do is die or run away. I can always admit I can't handle it on my own and call in the rest of the Tights Brigade (because as we all know, that's what I usually do).

Re: You get a Dalek in a Jar (RAR!)
We've already run out of ideas of what to do over an unarmoured Dalek in glass jar. In all likelihood it will be able to break the glass, and if not it would be able to undo the top and escape. The only options are to try and kill it before it breaks out, run away, or let it kill you. As far as "serious" posts are concerned, this topic is done.

If we use Chuck's version of Janeway, she'll recruit it to help train her army of warrior cobalt tarantulas.Napoleon the Clown wrote:I think the important thing to ask ourselves here is, what would Captain Janeway do about a Dalek?
As for serious posting, yeah, we pretty much are done because it's a scenario with only one way to get out of it, kill the damn thing. It was only Purple trolling (or playing devils advocate, I'll give him that) that kept it going with random bullshit.
Baltar: "I don't want to miss a moment of the last Battlestar's destruction!"
Centurion: "Sir, I really think you should look at the other Battlestar."
Baltar: "What are you babbling about other...it's impossible!"
Centurion: "No. It is a Battlestar."
Corrax Entry 7:17: So you walk eternally through the shadow realms, standing against evil where all others falter. May your thirst for retribution never quench, may the blood on your sword never dry, and may we never need you again.

Re: You get a Dalek in a Jar (RAR!)
Okay, for serious posting here's a mayor modifier to the scenario:
The Dalek is trapped in the glass jar, made of superior glass that the Dalek can't brake or otherwise get out of. You have Q's gurantee that it cannot get out or otherwise directly harm you. And no, no household object will be able to brake the glass or free the Dalek. You would need special tools (diamond drills or something), high explosives or similar measures to do so.
Similar measures are also made with the machinery that keeps the Dalek alive. The Dalek cannot access it from the inside beyond necessary facilities. The system is temper-proof from both sides. Q sort of implied that you should not mess with it or try opening in.
The recycling system is very good, but you will need to sometimes feed water and nutrient-materials in every once in a while. The recycler can accept regular human food, even leftovers. The recycler will indicate whether the food is acceptable or not, but will filter out minor unwanted stuff. Tapwater is also fine as water. There is also a soda-bottle sized tank of unrecyclable and repugnant waste that you have to empty every few month or so. This waste can be safely be flushed down the toilet, but also makes surprisingly excellent fertilizer. The waste is clean in terms of parasitic micro-life, non-toxic but the smell lingers for some time.
Oh, and Q says that he will check on you later to see how you bonded with your Dalek.

Re: You get a Dalek in a Jar (RAR!)
So does anyone else think that maybe it's worth it to risk trying to use the Dalek? I mean, you're talking about a supposedly super intelligent creature with knowledge of science on par with the Time Lords. It could revolutionize pretty much any field at will. Yes, everything it tells you will be part of an elaborate plot to ensure your death and the death of the entire human race, but if you can avoid that the benefits could be huge.

Re: You get a Dalek in a Jar (RAR!)
I don't feed it, if the feeding system won't let me poison the little fucker. It's a Dalek. It deserves to die.

Re: You get a Dalek in a Jar (RAR!)
As questioned before by many posters, HOW would you use it? Would you be able to trust anything it told you (assuming you got it to say anything other than EXTERMINATE)? Would having a Dalek in a jar to peer at grant any significant insights into biology, evolution, medicine, etc...? Now that you've added the provision that it can't be easily freed without using means that would possibly kill the Dalek too, what could you offer it in exchange for it's cooperation? So does anyone else think that maybe it's worth it to risk trying to use the Dalek?

Re: You get a Dalek in a Jar (RAR!)
Besides which, a captive Dalek may try to kill itself to prevent interrogation. It would probably starve itself to death if it couldn't find some other means of ending its existence sooner.

Sell it to the Daily Mail as their new columnist.

Unless it has a bad trip, and wants to kill everything as it cringes in fear.
Re: You get a Dalek in a Jar (RAR!)
Quick question: The Daleks in the nuWho series have demonstrated all sorts of bullshit technology like the ability to erase the entire multiverse (except for themselves) from existence and using voidships to apparently move outside time and space.
Q meanwhile brought the Enterprise into contact with the borg apparently to let Picard know that there are genuinely terrifying creatures out there that cannot be reasoned with.
So, the fact that Q exists and is able to pick up advanced aliens with the technology to travel through time and cross dimensions... that kind of implies that there are a whole bunch more daleks out there who for all we know could be dimension-hopping or otherwise screwing around in a way that could kill us all.
Plus, we apparently know what a Dalek is, which means that the show exists in 'our' universe.
So, I'd bring the thing to NASA (or whoever would take me seriously) and let them know that it's an advanced and potentially hostile alien that looks like a trapped Dalek. Let them check it to verify that it's an intelligent nonhuman, they let the military know, then they start doing whatever it is they do in these sorts of situations. Hopefully, figure out that there are threats to humanity and take preventative measures to ensure we don't all get exterminated if the real-life daleks show up. Then, maybe have someone intelligent around when Q makes a return appearance to see how we've been.
I figure letting the authorities look at a real life alien dalek would either encourage them to invest in space travel, discourage them from starting wars that a fleet of genocidal aliens could take advantage of, or worst comes to worst, they get duped by the dalek and let it build a massive army of genocidal robots and gene-bombs. Either way, I'm sure it would be more interesting than killing it with bleach.

Fry: No! They did it! They blew it up! And then the apes blew up their society too. How could this happen? And then the birds took over and ruined their society. And then the cows. And then... I don't know, is that a slug, maybe? Noooo!

Re: You get a Dalek in a Jar (RAR!)
According to Guinan Q altered the timeline, as originally the Federation was supposed to meet the Borg at a much later date and when they may have been in a position to negotiate with them.
What's interesting is that according to Q the Borg were just a "preview of things to come" if the Federation kept expanding into that area of the Galaxy, which suggests that the Borg were just a warm up compared to what's out there. Maybe there's some Daleks
