And it's not just a thing of the 1940s and '50s. There was an episode of Nova just a couple of years ago about a paleontological dig in Canada that basically had a month to dig up as much as they could, because the fossils had been found by construction workers building a reservoir for a ski resort. The scientists knew they were leaving a lot behind but the judge would only give them so long to work before construction could resume.

The Vortex Empire: I think the real question is obviously how a supervolcano eruption wiping out vast swathes of the country would affect the 2016 election.
Borgholio: The GOP would blame Obama and use the subsequent nuclear winter to debunk global warming.

Wasn't Centerpoint station built by the Killiks, who were able to build it due to the Force powers of the Son and the Daughter, in order to contain what the "Mother" had become? The Ones - Son and Daughter, who later removed themselves from the hivemind, which also removed the ability of the Kiliks to create such technology?

And since the Kiliks don't write, but keep all stories they know in the hivemind - not making any difference between fiction and true events - there simply weren't any records.
A minute's thought suggests that the very idea of this is stupid. A more detailed examination raises the possibility that it might be an answer to the question "how could the Germans win the war after the US gets involved?" - Captain Seafort, in a thread proposing a 1942 'D-Day' in Quiberon Bay

Man, what fetid, rancid depths of the EU came up with that retcon? :(

The 'Fate of the Jedi' novels, I think... Yeah, they weren't great.
It's a strange world. Let's keep it that way.

Seems like as bad as Darksaber, Crystal Star & Dark Empire were I got out when the going was good.
So I stare wistfully at the Lightning for a couple of minutes. Two missiles, sharply raked razor-thin wings, a huge, pregnant belly full of fuel, and the two screamingly powerful engines that once rammed it from a cold start to a thousand miles per hour in under a minute. Life would be so much easier if our adverseries could be dealt with by supersonic death on wings - but alas, Human resources aren't so easily defeated.

Imperial Battleship, halt the flow of time!

I pretty much gave up on the EU's forward progression after Legacy of the Force. I always actually preferred the X-Wing books to anything featuring movie main characters.

Yeah, this sounds like being the level of trash the Clone Wars cartoons/books/movie were :(

Seriously, even My Little Pony cartoon is better written and more mature than these...

Eh, there was a brief resurgence after they got rid of K.J.A. with a few very good books, IMHO, but later NJO and and that Killik thing were so bad I gave up on EU entirely.
