Mystery Science theater goes Kickstarter.

Post by Anacronian »

Homo sapiens! What an inventive, invincible species! It's only been a few million years since they crawled up out of the mud and learned to walk. Puny, defenseless bipeds. They've survived flood, famine and plague. They've survived cosmic wars and holocausts. And now, here they are, out among the stars, waiting to begin a new life. Ready to outsit eternity. They're indomitable... indomitable. ~ Dr.Who

The only issue I have with this is that, unless you pledge $100 or more, you won't be able to access the entire season... perhaps I missed the mention of other methods of accessing the content once it's produced?

I'd imagine that the $100 just gets you the access first. Usually for projects this large they'll set something else up later for people that didn't pledge.

I could be wrong, so if you're concerned your best bet is messaging the Kickstarter team and asking directly.

Felicia Day is the new Mad of the Forrester family. Patten Oswalt is her henchperson. The second threshold has been reached, so we're at at least 6 episodes, and the 9 episode threshold seems like a given (plus they're counting some MST episode package dls as part of the total, so we may be much higher). This is looking good!

Wow, check out some of these names working on the art side:

Wayne White (of Peewee's Playhouse fame), Pendleton Ward (Adventure Time), Rebecca and Steven Sugar (Steven Universe), Guy Davis (a comic artist of Sandman Mystery Theatre, Pacific Rim, The Strain, and B.R.P.D.), Frenden (a graphic artist), Joshua Pruett (The Croods and Phineas & Ferb), Gary Glover (a long-time designer for films and toys), Marty Baumann (worked on Toy Story 3 and Big Hero 6), Brett 2D Bean (who's worked for Disney, Nickleodeon, and Jim Henson's Creature Shop as a concept designer), Adam Savage (of Mythbusters! To handle practical effects), and Grant Baciocco and Russ Walco (lead puppeteers).

That's... quite the lineup!

Funded, with two more 'bonus' episodes, so 14 total!
