The nano-plauge works its will, with any complex machine at risk of turning into a co nfused and militarized transformer. The short term saving grace us that any transformer larger than 1m in any direction has been found to tear itself in to two competeing halves. The second saving grace is that the 'become a transformer process' needs to be triggered, and the created transformer appears to be completly loyal to its creator. There has been a spate of muggings using a transformer already so you feel its time to join the club. You have collected the requisite parts, the cockroach, the car battery and so on, now you need to think about what you want:

1) decide the item you are going to transform. This will have an influence on how it looks and its capabilities. It is also likely to colour social perceptions of the robot and thus shape its personality. It is indistinguiasable from other objects when not transformed. The transformer will not weigh 50% more or less then the origional object. The object may be longer than 1m if the total volume of it is less than o.5 cubic meters.

2) spend 3 skill points. Treble stacking allowed.
a) Armoured/tough. Most transformers are about as resiliant as an rc car. This skillmakes you much tougher. 1 point is tough enough to ignore a thrown brick, 2 point to ignore an elephant hunting rifle and 3 points can swallow a grenade without more effect than flatulence.
b) flight. May hover and fly at 4, 16, or 64 m/s for 1,2,3 skill points
c) skilled. For each point, the transformer has a skill. Anything from animal husbandry to hacking to surgery.
d) signature weapon/tool: be it flamethowers, smoke bombs, fire extinguisher ect. Gain one for every skill point. Restocks every time you transform.
E) extra form. The other two skill points may be different in this form. 2 skill points gives no extra benefit.

I'll make my transformer out of a transformer. That way it can hang out in my yard and no one will pay any attention to it.
I'll spend my 3 points on skills. Machining, electronics, computer programming. Then have it start creating more transformers loyal to me. Now I'm king of the robots.

I'll make my transformer out of a wifi router. More specifically, the EXO AC5300 DIR-895L/R.
It'll dominate in electronic warfare, inserting itself into networks and intercepting anything that goes through its wifi traffic. It pwns cellphone networks, computer networks - basically any communications network using radio frequencies.
Though it usually will skitter around, it can fly slowly in order to position itself to properly intercept signals.
With its signature RF guns, it can disrupt any drone's control signals.
Also, I get perfect cellphone and wifi coverage wherever I am.

I'll make my transformer out of a Sony Aibo and put 3 points in toughness to save it from it's slow, sad death due to lack of parts.

I didn't see this one, but, what the hell, I'll bite.

I convert the ancient HP desktop I can't even shift into a dog-like transformer. 1 point for extra armor, 1 point for hacking(handy for cracking my bank's secure network), and 1 point for the laser in the nose.

Yes, the Transformers equivalent of K-9. Sue me. But, beware of dog.
