Hmm close but I give this to Thrawn, He's had quite a few Years to Learn how to exploite SW Tecnology(Like the Interducter Precice Jumping) but belive you me, The fighting would be good.

Considering Ender is in the middle of a nervous breakdown and recieved a heck of alot of support from bean, I'd say his abilitiy to manage under a real combat situation that he is aware of are severly overrated. I should also point out he didn't beat 7000 to 1 odds to win, he avoided the fleet and then one, contrary to what most people believe.

Yes, I'm a person who prefers OSC to all other sci fi, and I am saying that.

course, he had a long series of victories before the breakdown - how many wars are as fast paced as the annhilation of the buggers?

The bugger war lasted about a week, so not very many.

However, we don't know much about those wars. In fact, all we know is that the battles occured. We don't know if Ender won through overwhelming might, tactics, by virtue of what Petra, Hot Soup, Bean, Crazy Tom or any of the others did, or by pure dumb luck.

So in evaluating his skills, those can be ignored because we have no information on them. Maybe Shadow of the Giant will reveal more about them via Bean's memories, but I doubt it.

Hmmm.... I think that Thrawn would win as he is BOTH a great tactician and a great strategist. Ender is merely a great tactician. Remember that he did not plan the war itself, merely commanded their forces during the conflict. The scenario indicates that both sides have similar strategic resources, and so strategy would become an important component.

Thrawn. Pure and simple.

The only way Ender won the bugger war was because he didn't konw he was fighting it. When he finally did find out about it, he went into shock for a few weeks, long enough for a entire new war to be fought and won. I seriosly doubt Ender's capability to send people to their deaths.

Now if it was Bean against Thrawn, That would be a quite a match.

Hours, not weeks. He went into shock for a few hours. NAd considering he just wiped out a complete civilization at the ripe old age of 14, I can't say I blame him.

Thrawn. He was a tactical and strategic genius. He read his opponents like they were books.

Ender was a tactical whiz but we know little of hi strategic abilities. However he doesn't handle pressure well at all. He cracked during the Bugger War and was on the edge of it during the Lusitania Incident. Once the pressure is on he'll break.

Really Peter Wiggin or Bean would be much better choice. Both are excellent strategists and ever bit as good as Ender with tactics. Neither has the soft-hearted nature of Ender; they accept the brutal necessity of war. Bean was ready to kill people to survive at the tender age of five and Peter was just short of a sociopath in his younger days (he mellowed out later).

I agree with Mr. Bean, the fighting would be spectacular.

But I must say, Thrawn would win. Ender is just too nice to be an effective commander in an empire-building situation.

Nah, Ender would crack quickly and then Thrawn would brush him aside. He just can't hack sending people into battle. When the pressure is on Ender cracks, simple is that. It'll only be a few battles before Ender cracks.
