Rathark wrote:Shielding Ability: Can deflect up to 120 gigajoules of electromagnetic radiation or plasma (Aggressor must use a minimum of 30 gigawatts to penetrate at all). Can easily deflect a BLUNT stalagtite of up to 300 tons falling from an altitude of 200 m. A sufficiently sharp stalactite of half this mass may be able to penetrate his shield if dropped from the same altitude. Force and pressure would be a greater factor here than kinetic energy.
I've calculated the potential energy (mass * altitude * gravity acceleration) of the 300 ton stalactite to be roughly 600 megajoules, and the sharp 150 ton stalactite to be half that (obviously).

How does momentum, force and pressure come into play here? If the sharp stalactite has a tip of only 1 square centimetre, how does its penetrative ability compare with conventional missiles, armour-piercing missiles and torpedoes?

Equally pertinent, at what point do the stalactites cease acceleration?

For now, my estimation of the momentums of stalactites A and B (without a calculator) are roughly 20 million kg/m/s and 10 million kg/m/s respectively. Blunt stalactite A has all 20 million units sread out over 1 square metre, while sharp stalactite B concentrates half of this in 1/10,000 of the area - ie it has 5000 times the concentration. This is slightly over the concentration necessary for solid objects to penetrate Alokavon's shield if the kinetic energy is insufficient.

When the friction equals the gravitational attraction.

How it looks like a real bad ass ! Is from a future HW universe ?

Here are more precisions  :

* if the Fleet Corrupter is based on the Beast's ( HW / Cataclysm ) beam, you can forget it : even inferior vessels ( read : Human and allies ) are totally immune against any form of nanotech attack, mainly because the materials of the hull and external devices are composed of normal light atoms, but the molecular boundaries have been enhanced beyond comparison with certain types of exotic ( read : artificial, doesn't exist normally but can be created with proper particle accelerator and energy input ) particles. For the Ki'Dak it's even worse, their hulls are composed exclusively of heavy nuclei instead of atoms ! But even without that, there are really nasty nanotech weapons, the kind which would make even Palpy think twice before using them. Even if the majority of ships and structures wouldn't be affected, biological lifeforms wouldn't like it...
* I don't know where you've read that the Naggarok could completely outmanoeuever the Doomgiver : I stated that the latter had a drive which combined both tremendous acceleration and manoeuvrability. The Naggarok might be a little faster and more agile, but that's not a decisive advantage. ( BTW I think that "a few m/s below c" is a meaningless expression, as any sublight drive would by definition tend to be asymptotical to c )
* with the exception of the singularities ( which are extremely penetrative, compared to PPCs or beams of comparable outputs ), all other stats are low-end estimations ( since I've not decided definitive stats, I used a Saxton-like analysis, as if I was a 29th century tactical IA analyzing encounters with the Ki'Dak, which are the few encounters I have already planned - the stories and universes are far from being complete, but I work on the 3 eras simultaneously ). The shields had been weakened by intensive shield disruptors attacks from a huge fleet of capital warships, and had to be finished with conventional weapons, due to the fact that most SDs were offline due to overactivity ( which indicates that the real standard power is easily 6 or 7 orders of magnitude greater, at least ). The 6 beams were mainly used to take down the shields of an alien cruiser, and since the Ki'Dak demonstrated an obvious will to play cat-and-mouse with it, it is not sure if they were at maximum output ( which is however probably not greater than 10^35 - 10^36 watts ). The estimate for the Death Ray has been calculated as the minimum output needed to vaporize a small planetoid with its small shielding array online ( 10^37 joules approx ). Which is not really impressive, if you consider that the 28th century Earth Commonwealth's Armaggedon-class planetburster had a maximum output of 10^42 watts ! But what is impressive with this device is its size ( lenght < 1 km, while the ECAPB's cannon had a lenght of nearly 60 km for a maximum output probably smaller ! ).
* Is the Naggarok immune to tractor beams or ensnaring fields ?
* Has it sophisicated cloak detectors ? Remember that a Doomgiver can fire while cloaked, and if it has a phase cloak it can become immune to any non-outphased weapon ( almost exclusively in the hands of the Shadows, and one other alien superpower ) , but then it cannot fire back ( i think ) .
* if the Naggarok lacks weapons "exotic" enough to be assimilated to shield disruptors or "quantum resonators", or at least point singularities, it won't be much of a threat to a Doomgiver.
* what kind of IA/tactician has the Naggarok ? Ki'Dak can make errors when faced with lesser species, as they tend to play sadic games with them. But when faced with a worthy adversary, they become cold, efficient and determined. In that case this was a 3000 km long extragalactic droneship, which destroyed 10 KDD in less than 2 minutes. As a response, they first tried to trigger artificial artificial black holes in the vicinity, but the drone first escaped unscathed, then sent them into Subspace realm. Then 30 KDD combined their power ( one can only begin to imagine what kind of power this released ) to send a part of the drone into Subspace itself, cutting it straight through vital systems, and the KDD remained disabled for several minutes ( this has two meanings : either the maximum output of a KDD reactor is greater than the power generated by the whole observable universe, or the the reactors were damaged by an unknown manoeuver destined to overcome the drone's defences - defenses against those kind of attacks are extremely efficient, even in minor civilisations ).

The Doomgiver is not the Ki'Dak most powerful warship.

Here are a few stats for you:

Type I Civilization (uses the resources of an entire planet, including sunlight on the surface): 4 * 10e17 watts (I believe this is 10,000 times today's output)

Type II Civilization (uses the power output of an entire sun, probably with a Dyson Sphere, Dyson Cloud or interlocking Ringworlds): 4 * 10e26 watts

Type III Civilization (uses the power output of the entire galaxy, including all the black holes): 4 * 10e37 watts

Type Omega Civilization (uses the power output of the entire material universe): 10e50 watts

Of course, tapping the energy of hyperspace could make these projections obsolete :D

Sources: Various, notably the theories of Freeman J. Dyson, some bloke named Kardeshev and "Colonizing the Galaxy in 8 Easy Steps" by Marshal T. Savage. There's also a book called "The Limits of Possibility" or somesuch.

PS: My Seraphim Uberdreadnought is 5,000,000 LY wide and has a cosmic disruptor cannon of 10e98 watts. It's purpose is to euthanise entire universes that are not evolving according to plan, and generate Big Bangs in which such experiments can be started from scratch with a few essential variables changed (gravitational constant, speed of light etc). It was created by a race that is quintillions of years old (millions of times as old as our universe), and is harvesting every 3-space / 1-time universe within the multiverse as a source of energy (junk food) and information (each seperate space-time continuum is already being used as the equivalent of a single "bit storage" in the equivalent of one of their DVD libraries).

Just being silly in the ASVS TGOD verse I created "Gaia's Womb" a starship that's shields converts any form of energy directed at it into fuel for it's powerful forges and goes aroung Harvesting asteriods and constucting planets and stars. Looks like a mostly empty half sphere.

I am also threatening to unleash the M.C. Esher, a ship that defy's discription as it's a tesserect, and what portions of it that you can see in three dimensional space follow Non-Eucladian Gemetric Principals. The vessel fires more mass in missiles in a single anime style discharge then the vessel actually wieghs, however 95% of these are actually full of missing socks and beer vans instead of explosive warheads as the ammunition is brought into the launchers at the moment of firing. Oh and the crew is an infinate number of Monkeys with laptops.

MK Sheppard's joke ship:

The initial post on ASVS:

From outside the galaxy.....a massive dark shape moves towards the
milky-way.

This is the ISS _Penis Envy_ under the control of the League of Interplanetary Governments.

120,000 LY long, and capable of vaporizing entire galaxies in a single shot with it's superlaser, the _Penis Envy_ is the ultimate warship ever built. Not even the Culture can withstand the power of the _Penis Envy_.

Within it's hangar bays are 25,000 Eclipse SSDs, ready to decimate the LIG forces...along with suporting forces of 1 million ISDs.

Quantum armor 100 LY thick protected the _Penis Envy_, and massive gravitational generators capable of wrenching entire galaxies across the universe at hyperspatial speeds bulged from various blisters along the _Penis Envy's_ length.

Aboard, were 125,000 Sith Lords under the command of Grand Sith Lord Lt. Hit-Man...awaiting the signal to utterly tear apart the minds of those who opposed the BNT.

And more detail, from a later post on SB. She seems to have had her ISD complement increased:

With a huge burst of cronau radiation, trillions of
ships cease to exist as they slam into the impenetrable
shields of the ISS Penis Envy as she drops
from hyperspace.

120,000 Light Years long, she carries 1 trillion trillion
trillion TIE Defenders and 1 trillion ISDs for support

Then there's always the Phallus-class and Thruster-class ships.

And the Azrael-class heavy supercruiser.

Ships which are 50,000 miles (80,000 km), 250 miles (400 km) and 30,000 miles (48,000 km) long, respectevely.

Ancaris' Battleship

So <Bleaping> large 90% of it is still in Hyperspace at any given time.

and that <10% of it's mass that exists in three dimensions actually outweighs gallaxies, if not realities.

Relentless Firestorm of Annihilation class Universal Battleship

Size: Universal, the ship completely fills the universe it was constructed in except for a 100-meter band around the edge, only into this may other craft jump.

Power system: Logic/Anti Logic reactor, Trillion QuintillonE1000000000000000 watts

Armament: Trillion QuintillonE100000 weapons, each with 99E9999 joules firepower

Shield strength: Irrelevant, insufficient energy exists within the known and unknown multiverse to drop the shields of the Relentless Firestorm of Annihilation.

Armor: 5000000 light years of Quantum standard enhanced Neutronium.

Engines: Inertial less FTL drive, ship can reach infinite speed instantly, Inertial less STL drive, faster instantaneous trans dimensional drive, the drive jumps the ship back in time as it shifted realities allowing it to arrive the same time the order to leave was given, ship can only jump into universes larger then its own and will utterly destroy anything in its path when a jump.

I'm in the process of designing ten uber-battleships for a sci fi story. They're essentally invincibe to the tech of that galaxy, created by some unknown alien race.

I haven't worked out the specifics, but I've fleshed out the design and the armament, and I've also written a brief 3-page story in which one of the ships takes the antimatter torpedoe payload of an entire planet(this is a very big, importan planet) without losing it's shields.

Of course, they're also manueverable enough so that they don't have to be hit if they don't want to be. One of the benefits of having no crew.

I am really proud of my anti-ubership, it's the exact opposite of the others, most powerful shields anywhere, no weapons, and all it does is absorb energy and make things, oh and it grows too. and it has a "Daughter" named "Grail" now too, it literially is a "Mothership"
