So how much more powerful is a Gauss Cannon then?

We don't know. The codex passage states the power discharged would run in the multi-megawatt range for a basic gauss weapon, but all of their information is also really just a best guess since they've never been able to examine an intact and working necron or gauss weapon.

Near as they can tell (from examining wounded, vehicles, etc.) is that it breaks down the target on the sub-atomic level then imparts an opposite charge on the components drawing them toward the gun.

If you go purely by stats a Gauss cannon should be more than twice as powerful as a Gauss Flayer, but because of Inquisitor we know the strength values in 40K are very broad.

power isnt always the issue with Flayer weapons, they automatically get a glancing hit on a 6 no matter the level of armour..


so your basic necron trooper could blow the head off an AT-AT.
