Besides, it's Starscream. Starscream has always been a traitorous ass.
Visceral fight scenes. No play act fighting, 100000000% ass kicking.
When Prime cut Bonecrusher's head off with his arm-blade, I tossed my fist into the air. That's Optimus for you.

Okay, that was officially the most manly movie of all time. Giant robots fighting in downtown New York, expensive destructive car races, and pretty girls that are in to cars.

Absolutely loved it. Also, transforming XBox 360 FTW. I wished they had shown what it looked like though. I'd have loved to see more than one console duke it out as well.

Blackout is also officially my favorite of the lot, I just love his design.. the fact he can launch out a giant killer robot scorpion is a plus to.
I had a very difficult time, primarily because I'm not familiar with any of the transformers (sorry, don't hurt me!).

All of the Decepticons had a silver color scheme, and one or two of the Autobots were silver; so sometimes I got mixed up during the fights with the silver robots. I could recognize almost all of the Autobots and Megatron, but not most of the Decepticons, when things got hectic.

Sorry, I hate making three in a row, but...

Did anyone notice the rocket-jump? One of them jumped and while up-side down fired cannons into the street to launch him into the air.

I gotta agree with Praxis, I could easily recognize Bumblebee and Optimus because of their color scheme, but in the final battle most of the other robots melded into one gloriously rendered, but anonymous mess. But the CGI looked really, really good. There was one shot near the end of one of the Autobots in broad daylight and I couldn't even tell if it was an actual physical model or not.

Section 7 was useless. Stolen from Independence Day and Armageddon, no need for a super secret agency that's super DUPER secret even to the Secretary of Defense....plus saying that all the innovations from the 20th century came from the alien source was lame. Unless it's brought up in the sequels, they should have trimmed that entire agency from the plot. Boo to Anthony Anderson, too. Maybe it's because I just saw Live Free or Die Hard earlier this week that did the same "super master hacker" bit better, but it just seemed really really lame and implausible. There's no way that guy knew anything about anything.

All in all, a great movie. I want to see more of the Mountain Dew Vending Machine Decepticon that fires delicious Mountain Dew at people.

Ironhide; what a fucking legend. Apart from Prime, he was probably the most badass, what with his flipping out like a giant robot ninja.

Starscream shot Megatron at the end? Cool... ok maybe that might explain why Megatron got downed at the end by a few puny F-22s...

Is this speculation or is it confirmed by official sources?

And has anyone noticed Barricade (Police Car) MIA in the final battle? Does anyone know what was his fate?

I didn't have any trouble following the action: the totally redundant B plot is a far bigger problem. The detail of the models and direction made the combat basically 'some stuff happens and someone flies through the air', which was pretty hilarious. Not as bad as Dreamwave comics, though. :)

Sweet Mary, are the Dreamwave comics really that bad? :P

I am seeing it in three hours time. Expect a report sometime tonight or tomorrow. :)

Maybe I don't know enough about the background, but why does the Allspark turn Earth machinery into deceptacons? The autobots seemed to think that they could use it to make peaceful life, so what was to stop them from just making it to the city and making an army of their own good-guy lethal vending machines?

Here's what I think about what was seen with the Allspark:

What we saw were scenes of the Allspark granting live to machines in uncontrolled situations, which ended up creating Transformers which lacked defined personalities and were effectively "blank slates:" unstable and outwardly hostile.

I expect that in much more controlled situations, the Allspark could have been used to transmogrify ordinary machines into perfectly normal Autobots or Decepticons (dependent on which faction possessed it) and as Optimus hoped, renew Cybertron back into a living state.

I would imagine that such a controlled situation is probably more complicated and involved than just having Optimus slapping cars and vending machines with the Allspark and shouting "I choose you, Autobot!" Doing so would have just done what was seen in the film: create more schizophrenic robots that attacked everything in sight.

Saw it yesterday, seeing Optimus Prime and having Peter Cullen do his voice, just made me jump happily in my seat.

I am so buying the DVD.

I can't remember, but was Sam even worse in the cartoon?

Spike basically functioned as somebody the Autobots could talk to so that the show wasn't just watching a bunch of robots running around and shooting each other. :P

Actually, now that I think about it I had trouble remembering who was who during the last fight scene.

well apart from Optimus Prime and Bumblebee all the others were more or less gray or black in the case of Ironhide, which in the shadowdy confines of the City made them pretty much blend so that you couldn't tell easily who was who (which actually IMHO helped in the movie as the the rather quick transformation)

and Frenzy need a transformers equilevant tranquilizer dart, mean the thing is very defination of hyperactive (and if he did by someway survive the movie he should learn to protect his head more, I getting depapited twice in space of what few days at most isn't exactly a stellar record) and did you notice that the "Nokia transformer" looked like Frenzy.
I may be an idiot, but I'm a tolerated idiot

Jazz was Silver, Ironhide was black (the only transformer that color), Ratchet was sort of a greenish-yellow.

The decepticons were mostly the same color-wise though I'll grant that.

I noticed yeah, and yes Frenzy really needs to lay off the caffeine.. his name is appropriate though.

it's less then an hour since I've seen it so do remember the colors but the "pipes" and the fast pacing made it hard to follow (not to mention the camera angles) and the tank decepticon (what ever he was called) was olive green but all I saw was yellow (bubmblebee and ratchet) and red/blue (Prime) and shades of gray for the rest (lighting effected to that alot)

yeah but he got annoying at times (well almost all the time) also I had trouble making out what the decepticons were saying most of the time (excluding Scorpnok who didn't say a thing)

Man, what is this?

Seriously, I had no problem whatsoever following who was who in the final fight or anywhere else. They were all different colours, different shapes, different configurations: just as easy to tell apart as people. So I really don't know what's the problem other than that some people simply didn't bother paying any attention to detail.

I was too busy laughing at the little spaz to get annoyed I guess. As for difficulty.. was this a megatron specific thing or were the subtitles too fast? As far as I know Megs was the only one to speak english aside from one line out of Starscream.

Oh and am I the only one who looks at Devastator and imagines a scene where he's standing around a park full of Abrams and trying to figure out where the hell he's supposed to put all his guns?

Yes.

I think the Random City being full of identical intersections confused me more than the robots. Who is where? How far are they from what? How does Sam climb 9 flights of stairs before Megatron gets him? :)

I saw Devastator start to move and went 'SHIT! Where'd they get the Bolo Mk I?!'
