Agents of SHIELD season three. [Spoilers]

Re: Agents of SHIELD season three. [Spoilers]
I'm surprised they haven't created a prosthetic hand for Coulson that can:
a) Not be picked by a metal detector
b) Incorporates some sort of weapon, (anything from a simple touch-taser to a laser, or even a simple single-shot gun)
c) Includes some sort of radio, computer, tracker, or hackign device, (like we saw Hawkeye use in Avengers).

Re: Agents of SHIELD season three. [Spoilers]
Not the best episode tonight. Seemed a bit implausible and ham fisted.
Some good moments of characterization though, and some real tension towards the end.
No Zombie Ward, but apparently Malik has a daughter. Was she a new inclusion or something from earlier that I missed?
Also, am I to take it that Bobbie and Hunter are off the show now? I wasn't expecting that (at least not yet- I'd heard talk of a spin-off).
Edit: Also, regarding the previous post and Coulson's hand, it apparently had something in it tonight to scramble the audio recordings of the interrogation room where Bobbie and Hunter were being held, so Coulson could have a private talk with them.

Re: Agents of SHIELD season three. [Spoilers]
We hit episode 12 here on Sunday. Where the show has gone full X-Men when the cure argument.
I just don't know about this season. Everything seems up in the air and I don't know, nothing really seems consistent, there's not like a central feel to the show. Don't know if anyone else things that or it's just me being weird.
Creel being their sole non-inhuman powered guy seems off. Like it really has become very separate from the films. Obviously they don't know about any of the Netflix heroes either. Which is sad. I kind of want crossovers. (Though Mostly I'd love more inter-Netflix crossovers.) But they'd feel terribly out of place in AoS.

They did have some non-inhuman super powered folks earlier in the show, at least. The two appearances by Lady Sif of Asgard being perhaps the most notable.Crazedwraith wrote:We hit episode 12 here on Sunday. Where the show has gone full X-Men when the cure argument.

Indeed. But the episode in question did make a big deal out of it. Though specifically it was FitzSimmons saying they hadn't really studied other powered. They're non-powered Asgardians who happen to be superhuman naturally)
Alas checking IMDB Sif doesn't seem to be schedule for another quest appearance. I'm sad, I like her.

Come to think of it, the second Lady Sif episode also had a Kree, as I recall.

super ghetto edit. I swear my mobile deleted half my post there. I meant to say:Crazedwraith wrote:Indeed. But the episode in question did make a big deal out of it. Indeed. But the episode in question did make a big deal out of it. Though specifically it was FitzSimmons saying they hadn't really studied other powered humans before, which is true. (And technically Lady Sif and the asgardian history professor aren't superpowered. They're non-powered Asgardians who happen to be superhuman naturally)

Well I just saw "Parting shot"...
Spoiler
Had I not known they were getting their own series called Marvel's Most Wanted I'd have been disappointed, but then I realised they would have to be written out properly and not simply have them disappear. In the end, it's going to be the quality of Most Wanted that reveals whether this was justified, because it'll either be an end for them, or the start of a new beginning.

Eh, never been a massive fan of Morse and Hunter and this episode was designed to try and hug on the heartstrings and make it a big deal they were leaving and fell flat for me.

Re: Agents of SHIELD season three. [Spoilers]
What I didn't buy was how afraid of the Russians they seemed to be by the end- they've faced far worse and never showed that much fear before. Hell, the inhuman that got close enough to kill the Russian PM was a far greater threat*. I could accept that they were simply holding out until Coulson could arrive with an escape plan but they refused to take the opportunity when it came. I actually liked their characters- they weren't short of development since their arrival at the start of Season 2 and didn't take them long to fit in. And Morse being on par with Melinda May in terms of asskicking ability didn't hurt either Her twin staves were pretty awesome, they seemed to have a return capability not unlike Cap's shield.Crazedwraith wrote:Eh, never been a massive fan of Morse and Hunter and this episode was designed to try and hug on the heartstrings and make it a big deal they were leaving and fell flat for me.
*Of course, had it been Putin in the firing line instead I doubt Shield would be as concerned with keeping him alive!
Re: Agents of SHIELD season three. [Spoilers]
Sort of including Creel doesn't this sort of set up the Secret Warriors?
It would be cool if they get Alexander (Phobos) and because of that we get a guest appearance or at least a hint of Ares. Both characters were kind of cool the last few years before they got killed off.

Re: Agents of SHIELD season three. [Spoilers]
That's been the show's weakness since season 1. It doesn't have a consistent feel. They set up a bunch of non-starter villains in the first half of season 1, and had no real direction, because they were waiting for Captain America 2. Then, the latter half of season 1 was rather solid, as it showed us SHIELD's downfall from its civil war. Season 1 ended well, with the promise of showing Coulson building a government agency from the ground up.Crazedwraith wrote:I just don't know about this season. .
Instead, season 2 was about Hydra, inhumans, Ward still being around, and then a second SHIELD that we haven't heard from since the finale, along with their resources. Season 3 has dropped the Inhuman community as well, making them mutants in everything but name.
Season 3 decided to keep on making Hydra a thing, because its the only credible threat the show has had. So, its a cabal of superpower worshippers, even though it seems out of character for a Nazi organization.
The show is also weighed down by what's going on in the MCU, where Nick Fury is still around, but they can't afford Samuel L Jackson on a weekly basis, so Nick Fury is just using the Helicarrier Coulson rebuilt as his own personal yacht or whatever.
Now Coulson is just this crazy person trying to bring back an organization that has already been replaced while busying himself with killing Hydra, and gives away what he spends the majority of his resources on, that was a major plot point of the previous season.
And now we see a mirror of Coulson's organization with the Watchdogs, who are SHIELD, without the funding and government oversight. So, Real SHIELD 2.0.
Re: Agents of SHIELD season three. [Spoilers]
I wish we'd get to see why zombie Ward is such a big deal, already. After all, he's supposedly the whole reason Hydra exists.
I wonder if they're gonna bring in Mack's brother as a recurring character.
Do you think that guy behind the Watchdogs will become Deathlok v3? Speaking of which, they should bring him back...

Ah fuck. I was so caught up in election news I completely forgot tonight's episode. More than half over now, so I don't think I'll bother.
The primary is really cutting into my AoS viewing, since for some reason Tuesday seems to be the most popular day of the week to hold primaries/caucuses.

Canada can still access Hulu right, or at least the ABC website, doesn't it? Can't you watch it there? The Romulan Republic wrote:Ah fuck. I was so caught up in election news I completely forgot tonight's episode. More than half over now, so I don't think I'll bother.

I don't know. Some things online have restrictions and are only viewable in some regions.
I often get "not viewable in your country" type messages, being in Canada.
Could give it a try.

Re: Agents of SHIELD season three. [Spoilers]
That bugged me as well, I never understood why he detached it in the first place; even though he was about to get a more lifelike hand in a later ep it didn't really make much sense- all it did was so that Ward would turn up holding it, adding to the creepiness factor.biostem wrote:My interpretation is that the guy Hydra was after *is* that metallic ooze, and that he basically rides in a corpse, which he can apparently enhance in some ways.
They should have shot the scene with Coulson detaching his hand differently - perhaps Ward kind of had a death grip on it, and Coulson had to detach the hand to escape - why he would waste the time to remove it didn't make sense the way it was shown.
The allusion to that "Hydra messiah" guy apparently wiping out all life on that planet during the time since his exile was similarly confusing - perhaps he gains power by draining life or something, and all these centuries basically left nothing alive, come present day.
Was that the season finale?
It was quite clever to modify the hand to get the delegates' handprints, while having his other arm in a sling to make sure only his artificial hand was avialable for shaking.
It was revealed that the Hydra entity could only inhabit things that were already dead, and that it could not feed on "other inhumans".

Re: Agents of SHIELD season three. [Spoilers]
I *loved* Spacetime, it had this really cool, slightly risky edge to it. Hive consuming the board members was pretty fucking hardcore for this show, as was the head-crushing scene. I was quite surprised they got away with both in the same episode.
Paradise Lost left me wanting slightly, just didn't seem to gel for me. And Malick's daughter's death was massively telegraphed from the very beginning: "Heyyy, I'm a person who's close to the guy that received a horrible vision of his impending doom and has just suddenly been introduced! No way this is gonna end badly for me!"

Yeah, I've always taken the subtext of the Birther movement to be, "The rules don't count here! This is different! HE'S BLACK! BLACK, I SAY! ARE YOU ALL BLIND!?

Re: Agents of SHIELD season three. [Spoilers]
Just saw what I assume to be Spacetime from Chimaera's comment on telly here. Interesting they seem to be going with 'Precog cannot be altered ever', most shows would take a forewarned is forearmed approach which is more intuitively correct to me. but does run slap bang into a grandfatheresque paradox. (if it didn't happen how did i see a vision of it).
There was nothing actually stopping Coulson not sending Daisy. Or FitzSimmons not going or anything. Though given we've seen the final premonition before as a straight flashforward scene it seems that is going to come true as well.
The size of new SHIELD seems in total flux to me. I mean they have a helicarrier or two stashed (what happened to REAL SHIELD's anyway?) somewhere. And they do have a tac team to back up Daisy. But they make a big deal about the loss of Morse/Hunter making a dent in their manpower as well.

The so called "real SHIELD" didn't have a helicarrier, did they? Just a generic aircraft carrier.

Re: Agents of SHIELD season three. [Spoilers]
I don't think it was never explictily stated one way or another but it was heavily implied that it was regular carrier and I think it was also amplied that SHIELD had only 5 helicarriers (the orginal and the 4 from Project insight).
as for Hunter/Morse, it could be that it's less the case of actual numbers and more case they lost 2 veteran specialist agents, while the members of tactical team have minimal training.
Kind of like loosing a pilot matters a hell of a lot more to a military force then loosing a rifleman as there's a lot more riflemen and they're easier to replace. I haven't seen the episode so might be wrong here though.

The Iliad definitely isn't a Helicarrier. Presumably, Coulson had it put back into service after Jiaying's plot was foiled.

Maybe Real SHIELD just does whatever it wants and cruises around in their carrier like Nick Fury does with the helicarrier he stole from Coulson?
