There's something very funky going on with the adresses in this episode. First they dial Chulak, but then, after chevron seven locks, the glyphs are those of Abydos! I wonder if we were meant to pick up on this, and if the Ascended Abydonians are involved somehow.

Do you think the Priors are some sort of "near ascension" thing? Or simply a vessel for strength like Oma did with Daniel when we first met her. I have to go with the former as it was said that the Ancients allow the Orri to spread through humanity, and if they were directly giving power (as opposed to knowledge OF power), the Ancients might not like it. Thoughts?

This also makes me think of the Nox. Assuming it is some kind of near ascension, would that be the level the Nox are at? Makes sense in a way.

Finally, the Orri crusade producing ships to invade. Thinking Ancient level tech? Hope the Asgard come into this.

The Asgard probably will, but I have a feeling that the Orri ships will curbstomp the Asgard. After all, the Orri are using the same tech base that the Alterans used, and the Alteran tech base is as far ahead of the Asgard as the Asgard are to us.

Hardly. The Asgard seem to handily exceed the Atlantis-Era Ancients in many ways.

On the other side the Asgard seem to be a little bit "uncreative"... but that's nothing which cannot be solved by a few "dumb" human advisors...

The Ancients warships could not defeat the Wraith which have 60 hiveships in the Pegasus galaxy according to SG-A.
However a rather primitve ship with Asgard shields was able take heavy fire from ten hiveships.
Also the Ancients transporter and hyperdrive technology seems much more primitve than the Asgard versions.

Actually it is well stated that the Ancients lost due to being outnumbered. And the Wraith didn't have "just 60 hiveships". Check The Siege part 2.

Also, what basis do you have for the Ancients having worse transporters? Additionally worse hyperdrive?

Didn't the Ancients lose because of the number disparity?

Regardless, I stand corrected.

Siege part 2? There are just three hiveships in that episode.

Yes the Ancients were outnumbered.
However I don't understand why people are always jumping to the conclusion that Wraith had a real big fleet.
It's much more likely that the Ancients had a rather small warfleet.
There was alsono giant fleet above Atlantis "Before they sleep", hell only two darts attacked the time ships.

Transporters:
They Ancients use ring trandporters which are much more primitve than the Asgard transporters.

Hyperdrive:
They were waiting for transport shisp in "Before they sleep" however even Thors oldtimer Beliskner(Which was clearly an oldtimer as it was destroyed by Goa'uld motherships while the Promtheus with Asgard shields survived battle against Anubis Mothership) was able to travel intergalactic distances in a few minutes.

A made a mistake. The name of the episode is "Before I Sleep".

You're probably right, I'm just saying the Wraith ship to ship was far inferior. As for the "Before They Sleep", Atlantis was under water with no defenses but her shields. The Wraith didn't need to keep a big fat fleet in orbit in that instance. Still, the idea that the Atlantians simply had a small fleet sounds good anyway. It seems like they never really faced an enemy in most places so probably had little need for it.

Transporters: Perhaps ring transporters have reasons we don't know that makes them better. Or perhaps not. It may be the Asgard did improve on this tech. They were allied with the Ancients at one point in any case.

Hyperdrive: With Asgard hyperdrive it still takes the Daedalus weeks to get to Atlantis. I think it's just that far away.

The Pegasus dwarf galaxy is a companion of the Andromeda galaxy which means that it is not far away for an Asgard ship.

Before one of the "The SG-verse Pegasus galayx is not the same as the Pegasus galaxy in our universe" morons shows up(I don't mean you but there are such people).
Rising part 1:
O'NEILL: Pegasus
JACKSON: Yes, it’s… it's the name of a dwarf galaxy in the local group.

The Asgard hyperdrive in the Tau'ri ships are either vastly inferior to the drives on Asgard ships or the Tau'ri ships lack the ability to generate enough power for Asgard-level hyperspeeds,

Good points. And hey why not? The Asgard have had a longer time to improve the tech right? :)

Maybe the Ancients stopped building large fleets when they finished their stargate network ?

You know, that spoiler discussion involves absolutely no spoilers because its all information available from previous episodes.

As it stands, the Asgard have to have some impressive power sources. 4 days for the Daedalus to reach Atlantis with a ZPM using Asgard hyperdrives. Asgard ships can make the time in less then 4 minutes.

Previous episodes of Atlantis. Not SG-1. And as this is an SG-1 thread...

They contain spoliers for SG-A and I did not want to post them in a SG-1 thread.

So next time discuss it in the SGA thread if your concerned.

Since both episodes have already aired, and at the same time, and since both series cross with each other frequently, discussion of either in the threads is ok. I am removing your spoiler tags.

The poll is pretty meaningless anyway.

Next time do a combined thread. SG talk crosses over frequently and a single thread is easier.
