The quick "next time on BSG" teaser after the credits showed a basestar getting pasted with missiles.
I saw. Of course they'll be destroyed, I want to see if they have any defenses like the Galactica's flak barrier.

Galactica's been reluctant to engage even one Basestar several times in the series, so I'd guess they are more than evenly matched. The only Basestar destroyed so far was using a nuke and a Raptor plus Cylon transponder ("Kobol's Last Gleaming").

Sorry, but it wouldn't be a BSD thread without the Cylon witch hunt.
Someone is channeling his love of UNIX.

Anyway, I think the Galactica's reluctance to engage Basestars in the past had more to do with them not having to get damaged or trapped and the civilian fleet having no protectors. 2 Battlestars should resolve that issue.

Anyone see Gaeta at all this episode? I did not notice his ominous presence. if they start downplaying his charecter we're going to have to revise the witch-hunt list again...

Oh man, my dad loves the witch hunt. Hes always going "Hes a cylon" or "Shes a cylon" so today I said "you've though everyone except the janitor was a cylon so far."

Fisk seemed to regret what Pegasus did to the civies, and does seem to leak a ton of info about Cain. I doubt he'll off Adama or his crew. In fact I think he's gonna switch sides.

And yea, Starbuck isn't getting the kill on Cain, the Pegasus Six has that one.
I used to think that it was awful that life was so unfair. Then I thought, wouldn't it be much worse if life were fair, and all the terrible things that happen to us come because we actually deserve them? So, now I take great comfort in the general hostility and unfairness of the universe. ~Marcus Cole, Babylon 5

The problems of the world cannot possibly be solved by skeptics or cynics whose horizons are limited by the obvious realities. We need men who can dream of things that never were and ask "why not?" ~John F Kennedy Jr, 1963

Your dad and I are of like kind. Maybe it's time to revisit the Cylon witch hunt thread? hmmm

Well, SG-1 and SGA didn't suck total balls this season. They actually went somewhere, and seemed to get some things resovled, so that was good.

But nothing compared to BSG. I mean, it wasn't like I thought there would be a chance in hell for them to top it, but geez.

I (along with NP) was right about Starbuck. Not so right about other things. I thought Adama would talk to Tigh who would talk to Fisk about assassinating her, but it clearly isn't going that way.

That first 10-11 minutes (depending on your watch) was both long for the first part of the ep, and incredibly great. You could cut the tension with a knife, and no, you're not the only one. That was an awesome scene made BETTER by the fact that no one fired a shot, but everyone had their fingers on the trigger just waiting to. Damn that was great.

"I'm a friendly. You're friendlies. We're all friendlies...right?" or something like that. Gotta love Kara. She comes in not knowing what the hell is going on all the time. And she got some really good pictures.

Question, though. How did Galactica and Pegasas detect her? They had trouble when they were testing the Blackbird in amongst the fleet seeing her on DRADUS, and Kara got MUCH closer to that Spawn Point (TM). Was she burning engines pretty hot or something? Just wondering why they suddenly saw her when often times they never could.

I think he mentioned the Blackbird's sudden appearance early on, but was absent for the rest. If they crammed in minor Galactica characters, the Pegasus ones wouldn't have had any screentime.

Lee was talking to Starbuck, so maybe he told her to play chicken for a bit (active emisisons)?

best guess yea. The blackbird is a different design from the vipers so while the galactica would be able to read her from previous tests, the BSP wouldn't recognize her.

She'd probably have a transponder, but then, any ship can probably turn that off at will if they know what they're doing, and itd be much easier for a stealth ship to do it, as that would be a necessity for interhuman conflicts(political things...never know when it might come up as a necessity in the fleet itself).

I don't believe I took a single breath the entire show...

Though that seems to be a trend when watching nBSG. :D

Rewatching now...apparently the transponder is the only thing aboard that ship that tells you who's friendly. Galactica didn't recognize starbuck either. All they can tell is the general size of the ship and if its unided they assume Cylon.

God damn I love this show.

And damn the fact that I go back to Uni this Sunday, where we don't get SciFi from our cable provider

I don't think Fisk will even attempt to off Adama, if anything he'll be quick to join his side. Although I'm not sure if Six does kill Cain, if what the previews say are true. I get the feeling Moore wants to keep Cain around for some more drama and intense moments.
'Ai! ai!' wailed Legolas. 'A Balrog! A Balrog is come!'
Gimli stared with wide eyes. 'Durin's Bane!' he cried, and letting his axe fall he covered his face.
'A Balrog,' muttered Gandalf. 'Now I understand.' He faltered and leaned heavily on his staff. 'What an evil fortune! And I am already weary.'

The actress playing Cain (Michelle Forbes) was credited as a guest star. She doesn't have long to live.

This show keeps me on my feet, totally. So.. damn... good!

Apparently, Pegasus!Six was part of the crew. Any idea what her mission was yet?

And for the record. Best dogfight ever. The sliding effect was so very well done.

Wow. Just...wow...Evey time I think the show can't go the extra mile, it does. Highlights for me:

* The near shooting match of the teaser.

* The Caprica Freedom Fighters finally acknowledged again.

* Rosalyn's support of an assasination.

* The fate of Pegasus' civillians finally revealed

* Adama and Kain both plotting against the other.

Thank you Ron Moore. After nearly four months without my nBSG fix, you've got me back on the edge of seat. Easily the best premiere of tonight.

This episode was awesome start to finish. The fighters playing chicken with each other was beautiful. I wish I could have gotten a screenshot of that or something to make an avatar....

Anyway this next episode's cliffhanger looks way more...er...cliffhangerer than the last one--I dont think I can survive until next week :? :P

Oh and by the way, when the hell did the blackbird get an FTL drive? I thought the colonials couldnt put one into a viper sized thing.. :?

I had a similar problem with that as well. My only guess is that they've been able to get a close enough look at Raider FTL (it's not like they don't have enough spare raider parts lying around) to figure out how to make one for the Blackbird.

I was surprised by that too. I assume they had some spares from Raptors, and slapped one in. Since I didn't see any volume on the blackbird being taken up by something like an internal cannon...

An excellent episode on all accounts. The almost battle was perfect, the suspense and characterization are as good as always, and Rosalin's looming mortality is doing wonders for her skills as a leader.

I believe BSP is 62, while BSG is 75. Judging from that, BSP replaced an older Battlestar or other capital ship.

The BSG number refers to Battlestar Group (similar to carrier groups I suppose) according to Ron Moore's blog, not a registry number. You can also spot it on some charts in "Water".
