Mike, you might want to take a look at ancient Japan. Very little there makes sense on first view. Realistically, the average forumite here dropped into a meeting with a 13th century Samurai might well lose his head over a trivial misunderstanding.

No, but as I said, that's who they're supposed to represent. Don't you think that JMS was trying to make a point about the US with his portrayal of the EA?
Nor within western civilization do I see any nation peer to the Centauri 'republic,' an absolute monarchy that makes a habit out openly practicing slavery. Indeed, there is a distinct lack of dictatorships and absolute monarchies in western civilization when compared to the B5 YR.
Actually, at the time the age of western pluralism began, several centuries ago, slavery was widely practiced and absolute monarchies were common.

JMS has been straight out quoted as saying that he based President Clark off of Clinton.

Well, the Minbari targeting sensors were offline, which means that they were not going to fire. The EA would have realized that if they had bothered to check.

The problem, however, was not in the open gunports, but in the fact that Minbari sensors disrupted the jump engines of the Promitheus, which was interpreted as an agressive act by the captain.

Have a very nice day.

Actually the Mimbari sensors were so powerful that the Prometheus could not tell if the Mimbari warship was getting weapon lock or not.

When I read the title of the post I thought we were going to be talking about Minbari anatomy. (Do they have bones down there?)

No, they don't have bone down there. And presumably they have something similar to the human equipment.
