On the Yoda vs Vader mini debate, Yoda is clearly more powerful.
1. Midichlorians do not determine Force power or control. They determine Force potential. There's a difference. Vader before he got burned had lots of potential to become powerful, but lost a lot of it when he got badly burned.
2. Yoda has better feats. He fought and probably would have beaten Sidious had he not happened to have been closer to the edge on that senate pod. Vader himself admitted that Sidious is more powerful than him. Yoda pwned Dooku two times, once in AOTC and another in a novel called Star Wars: Dark Rendezvous (iirc that was the name of the novel).
3. In the ROTS novel Yoda was stated to be the most powerful light sider up to that point in history (as in the most powerful foe the dark side had ever faced, aka a light sider since Yoda's a "foe" against the dark side). Vader was in Star Wars: Death Star unsure if he could defeat Obi Wan in a rematch. Obi Wan is also a light sider, yet weaker than Yoda due to that quote.
4. Yoda has several centuries of experience. Vader has a few decades of experience.

Re: The stupidest flaw
As for sensing Chewy, the Movie makes a very good implication that having a Wookie prisoner on the Death Star isn't unusual. The Prison block commander was making it very clear he doesn't like Wookies. He is not surprised that he wasn't notified they they are sending a Wookie to his block. A Wookie being there he wasn't making an issue off. Not wanting a Wookie there he is making an issue of.
Also it is well established that Wookie labor was used in the construction of the Death Star and at the time of the Battle they were still on board. For the trip to the cell block it is telling that no one thought it was odd that two Stormtroopers are escorting a shackled Wookie.
"The Force is Strong with this one." Vader is obviously having to focus everything to make the lock on Luke to try and kill him. So suddenly now he can get the instant prophetic inspiration that he's going to be shot at? Not going to let you get away with that one. Vader is having to focus his Force power onto to Luke to overcome his latent Force senses so he can force a lock onto his fighter. It is not something trivial we are talking about here. Luke may be untrained but his danger sense is what is making targeting him hard for Vader. Watch how much his fighter graphic jinks around compared to all of the others!
Once alerted to the threat he does manage to stay alive even after another ship has struck his fighter sending it out of control.

That was disapointing ..Should we show this Federation how to build a ship so we may have worthy foes? Typhonis 1

Re: The stupidest flaw
Both. Evidence for Chewie being the only non-human in the system, and evidence that Vader would be able to sense if he was, without concentrating on it. Also some evidence that force users can species apart through the force, as opposed to just sensing that "Yep, something's alive over there," would be nice.evidence of chewy being the only alien? or vaders abillity? the imperial millitary is an intarly human organization, and vaders supost to be abill to "feel" things better then every one else. also i just looked it a source for vader being one of the most powerful jedi ever (Jedi vs. Sith: The Essential Guide to the Force)
