I dunno. I think it's lame that Basra asks you to LISTEN TO HIS SONG, when he has three whole songs on a 40+ Episode show, and he plays them constantly. I think it's lame when the stock animation makes the original Macross look newer and cleaner by comparison. I find it stupid that instead of being a drama with love triangles, explosions and the survival of the human race, it's rather about a rock band who fight using giant guitars played by giant robots against space demons.

Space. Demons. With horns. And Wings. PROTODEVILIN.

A loser sings a sad song.

Mylene sings too! And the Jamming Birds sing a great hit from Macross II! Although I agree that JVC Victor was a little stingy at times. But whatever, at least it's awesome J-Rock.

Yeah Ashi Pro was cheap, but have you seen the original show?

Yes it's a about a rock band in space. That's the whole idea. They rock space demons so hard, they have orgasms AND SING KARAOKE! And I'm sorry if you didn't see the love triangle between Gamlin (KICK!), Basara, and Mylene. And it was about the survival of the human race against evil aliens who were gonna turn people into food.

More importantly, the "evil" aliens actually wanted to capture sufficient people to turn into a stable food source, because the alternative was unrestricted energy consumption and the total extermination of all life in the universe, and they'd already done that once and really didn't want to do it again.

Hey VF5SS, what's that squishy green blob thing that Ranka uses as both a pet and a cell phone? Is it alive?

t's rather about a rock band who fight using giant guitars played by giant robots against space demons.
Minor nitpick. The only character with the giant guitar was Mylene's sister, Emilia.

I think it's just a phone. There's some cute, plushie phones out in Japan so Ranka's phone isn't that much of a stretch. Plus look at Sheryl's. It's a bleedin' magical girl transformation device.

Which really seemed to annoy the thing more than anything. Tough bastards, these Vajra.

Nah, give him until about episode 18 or so.

Also, Sheryl was great in this episode, hot and snarky. Might this be the first time in a Macross love triangle when the right answer isn't blindingly obvious?

Are the Vajra responsible for the disappearance of the Megaroad? Shouldn't the Zentradi know all about them given their long history of intergalactic spacetravel?

Maybe you shouldn't be asking all of the important questions when we're only on episode 4. Also you gotta remember that most of the Zentradi's existence has been RAAAAR! KILL THE SUPERVISION ARMY! HOLY SHIT! PROTODEVLIN! They're not exactly space explorers.

And isn't their military structure compartmentalized anyway? So news doesn't get about?

I'm of the opinion that the disappearance of the Megaroad shouldn't ever be given a solution. It's so much more mysterious, tragic, and romantic that Hikaru, Hayase, and Minmay simply vanished without a trace.

Yes, but Shirley it's no coincidence that Macross 25 is venturing near the vicinity of the last known whereabouts of the Megaroad.

And I agree with Spanky that it should never be explained. I'll be sorely disappointed if we ever get a conclusive answer as to the fate of the Megaroad.

I thought she stayed behind on earth? I must be misremembering.

In any case, this series is Powerful Stuff. I mentioned it earlier in the thread, but my friend is not merely interested in Macross, he's practically ap rofessional fanboy. We're lucky enough to know someone with all the Macross media in existence*.

Nope. They're all listed as having disappeared with the Megaroad-01 in 2016.

This is a common misconception. In Flashback 2012, there are "two" Minmays in the final scene: one is the "memory" of Minmay, the young version. The other is the "real" Minmay, aboard Megaroad.

The official website has been updated with pictures of Mikhail's VF-25G and Luca's minty fresh RVF-25. The VF-25 is continuing the tradition of the rarely seen VEFR-1 of putting surveillance in the capable hands of transforming fighter planes.

So episode 4 "Miss Macross" aired today. Just a few screenies to whet the appetite.

I think Alto should be Miss Macross

Also Klan Klein, leader of SMS Pixie Squad of Meltrans has her debut in this episode. When she gets micronized, she's a lot easier to handle

Seen ep. 4 now. This is the gayest Macross ever. Gay in a "fabulous" sense, that is, not in a "ghey" sense, like Macross 7. :P

Alto sure likes to take his sweet time fixing his hair and all.

You're not saying Macross Frontier is gay just because Bobby wears a pink scarf, gets along really well with the girls, and is a fantastic makeup artist are you? Nothing is more manly than that. Hell, nothing is more manly than Alto's father who is some kind of Kabuki king. Holy hell was that man's stare is like a death grip.

I've only seen up to Ep.3 of Frontier but damn I like it. And I've managed to see the first eight or so episodes of Macross 7, I'm liking it. Sure I hate Basara but the secondary character are great!
