They're bike couriers in a busy hospital. Why would anyone notice them? And I wonder why the hospital staff didn't pay attention to those two metre tall figures in black leather jumpsuits and shiny biker helmets striding around, acting in a obviously suspicious manner

Oooh, I thought that was rather good. The show already feels better without Billie Piper, who I never really got on with.
As a character-introducer, it actually worked very well - a nice touch with the Canary Wharf reference as well.
Am I the only one who thought that the Judoon were very reminiscent of the Vogons from Hitchhikers? Militaristic, stupid policemen who do EVERYTHING by the book. I suspect we'll be seeing more of them.
Looking good. 4/5

I pretty much thought they were like the Vogons as well and even openly stated that on Spacebattles.com (another poster compared them to Ogrons).Hillary wrote: Am I the only one who thought that the Judoon were very reminiscent of the Vogons from Hitchhikers? Yeah I thought that as well, their ships even looked vaguely reminiscent to the vogon ships in the hitchhikers movie.Hillary wrote:Am I the only one who thought that the Judoon were very reminiscent of the Vogons from Hitchhikers? I enjoyed this ep and thought it was a good intro to Martha, who already appeals to me more than Rose (but that may just be my strange intrest in med students). Overall a good episode, I give it 3/5 (I'm a harsh marker, 5 would need to be perfect).
Oh and am I the only one who had naughty thoughts when the doctor was trying to get Martha to come with him and said "I have a new sonic screwdriver that needs a test run", surely I can't be the only one...

An interesting start to the new series with some funky new species thrown in. I jhad my doubts on how Agyeman would play the assistant, but she managed. The retconning of her previous part being a cousin was a bit dodgy though.
It does seem that Earth is being visited more and more by ETs and Torchwood is still powerless to do anything, be it through last time's finale or sheer incompetence.
And hooray for the first of many Saxon references.

The Judoon reminded me more of the Megara from Stones of Blood. Though not much beyond their role in the show and their love of rules.

I liked this episode- the Rhino-Cops were very Masters of Orion.

Army of Ghosts - she played a Torchwood tech who had her brains eaten by a Cyberworm thing.Vympel wrote:I didn't even notice her in an earlier episode. I didn't enjoy it at all. There's just something missing now, felt like the same old same old. Cringed for the most part, the show doesn't seem to be making any progress.
Where was the hospital drawing power from the keep the lights on and allow the MRI chamber to build up enough power to cause something with an effect of 250,000 miles anyway?

Doctor Who doesn't seem to be creatively stagnating as badly as much as Star Trek or the Stargate SG-1 franchise - we've got a new set of regular characters and the later episodes sound genuinely interesting.
But it seems pretty daft how a loading crate sized piece of electronic equipment could eradiate everybody within a 250, 000 mile radius. Although the evil witch could've modifed it in a similar manner to how the Doctor boosted that X-Ray scanner with his sonic screwdriver.Bounty wrote:Backup generators. I thought that was kinda implied - basically, the plasmawhathamajig was doing manually a similar kind of modification to the doctor's one with the screwdriver.Big Orange wrote:But it seems pretty daft how a loading crate sized piece of electronic equipment could eradiate everybody within a 250, 000 mile radius. As for the computer thing - yeah, its stupid - still, it can be explained away as the computer being integrated into the display (hey, the form factor does exist) and miniaturized a lot compared to our computers do to Whoverse's more advanced technology.
Anyway, pretty good introductionary episode, 4/5 would be my score. I am disappointed that the next episode is a history ep though - an ep in the far future allowing the doc and Jones to get to know eachother and for her to lose her amazement at ubertech would have been better. Although, they did do that with Rose, so they probably didn't want to repeat it to not seem formulaic. Anyhow, we'll see how they handle it next week.
I'm pretty sure only clear visors are legal in the UK and you wouldn't expect couriers to be walking around inside a hospital much beyond reception, not with their helmets still on and with tinted visor down anyway.Bounty wrote:They're bike couriers in a busy hospital. What we really need in the next present-day ep is some psychologically unstable, violent narcisscist to jump out and try to molest an alien only to get killed. Then someone in the Government needs to say 'well, Torchwood never really recovered after Canary Wharf, I don't know where they find these people'.

More likely the narcissistic, emotionally immature twit would be directly responsible for the alien causing trouble anyway; and all because his boyfriend cheating on him, so he released the alien in revenge.Stark wrote:What we really need in the next present-day ep is some psychologically unstable, violent narcisscist to jump out and try to molest an alien only to get killed.

You know, I'm not that bothered by the doctor pointing his screwdriver at the case, or looking at the back of a monitor case. The dalek in Dalek put its plunger through the screen as well. And to be honest, our guessing how either technology works is like amoeba trying to understand a jet plane.

Could of been a thin client terminal. Lots of hospitals use Citrix and Terminal Services.NecronLord wrote:You know, I'm not that bothered by the doctor pointing his screwdriver at the case, or looking at the back of a monitor case.
