Yep, James T. Kirk is one walking character shield. I also think that Samwise Gamgee's character shield from Lord Of The Rings should be mentioned. And finally don't forget 99% of superheroes.

Yeah, but do they get chicks, like in truckloads? And let's not forget the green slave woman too! Some shortarse with a sharp stick doesn't come close, let alone all those homo-erotic clowns in the primary coloured underwear. Ripped shirt Kirk wins again.

Any Character that has been raised from the dead at least twice has a pretty powerful character sheild: IE: Buffy, Xena, Dracula, Frankenstein's Monster, Godzilla, etc.

Ahnuld in Commando. In the end the bad guys are firing at him from all directions at rages less 100 meters and they all miss and Ahnuld slaughters them all. Character shields don't get any sillier than that.

If we go into fantasy I would nominate Rincewind, or Twoflower.

Guybrush Threepwood is a good runner up too.

I'm surprised nobody mentioned Ash Williams from the Evil Dead movies or Burt Gummer from the Tremor flicks. Those two fight and get into things that nobody has any buisness going up against and surviving.

I don't know. Ash is able to survive and take stuff he shouldn't be able to in a comedic way. He does have a character shield, but I wouldn't say it is as strong as some others.

As for Burt, he is already a survivalist and all that. And the things he has gone up against aren't particularly that difficult given his "hobbies." I wouldn't say he really has a character shield that prevents him from getting killed.

Harry Potter (unfortunately)

Rincewind from Discworld, although in the first two books he had a good reason for having one. The spell inside his head was one of the most powerful spells of all time, one of the eight to be used in the creation of the universe by The Creator and left behind by him in the Octavio. After that he just got extremely lucky.

Rock Hunter from Robotech. The guy has no business being alive, since he's crashed an airplane at least three times that I can think of off the top of my heard.

Groo the Barbarian. His character shield is a physical manifestation of his own stupidity, such that nothing can harm him because he is such a idiot.

It is often thought that the Duke has awesome character sheilds, at least on SB.com, along with Mr. T, foo`

Godzilla, for having come back from the dead so many damn times. (only three or four) That, and he's easily one of the most recognizable critters on the planet.

Wolveringe from the X-Men comics.

His healing factor always seems to be just enough or increase in strength whenever he absolutely needs it to survive.

Throat ripped out, no problem. Most of his boddy mass incinerated no problem. He always talks shit about being the best there is but usually all he does it take a crap load of damage and end up winning. So much for actual skill.

Actually any good comic book villan would count too. No good villan stays dead or defeated for ever. Eventually they are back because they were either cool or interesting.

Then there's Dracula. Does anyone come back better than him?

Sinclair..His cannon-fodder Starfury took a hit from a Minbari capital-ship beam and survivied?? I know it was a glancing hit, but come on! No Starfury pilot in the history of the Earth-Minbari War was ever lucky enough to only take a glancing blow from one of those weapons!

There will never be a resolution in the evolution vs creationism debate because neither side can conclusively prove that they are right. The creationists can't prove that they're right becuase they're not, and the evolutionists can't prove that they're right because the creationists are too damn stupid to listen.

Anyone remember the 1960s Batman TV series?? Back then, Batman had quite a character shield. At least he always had EXACTLY the Bat-Gadgets he needed.

And we must not forget James Bond. Agent 007 has always had an impressive character shield.

From film....I'd say Bond does take the biscut as far as character shields go....has anyone else had so many lucky escapes from the Exploding Lair O' Doom?
Or nearly been blasted with orbital superweapons, nukes, grenades, rocket launchers, small aircraft....and well everything else on a near daily basis?

I'd have to say the entire UFP from sci-fi is pretty impressively shielded (the only impressive form of shielding they posses).

As for fantasy....comedy charachter wise, Tasslehoff is way up there.....but serious character wuse, I'd say Druss the Legend has fairl impressive inverse ones to rival even Conan....though Druss does go down eventually...(actually in the first book but thats reverse writing for you....so it does rather necessitate the shields....)....but till then he does really rather well.....

The first book was the best. He was still human, although very remarkable especially when you consider his age. The books that deal with the begining of his story make him much more like Conan, although I did sort of like his possessed/cursed magic axe. :)

Definitely Guybrush Threepwood. Two words - rubber tree. Plus, surviving a lactose-intolerant volcano god is no mean feat either.

If strictly sci-fi, then I'd have to go with James T. Kirk.

Really stretching for sci-fi but McGuyver had one hell of a character shield.

The Doctor (from Doctor Who) also has a huuuuge character shield.
