The more I think about it the more the brilliance of this episode pisses me off, Moffat does one episode a season (ok & one 2 parter) all of which are ace yet the bulk of episodes are given to far inferior writers who churn out far inferior stuff.

Since being revived there have been a small number of brilliant episodes, quite a few mediocre ones and a distressingly large number that are quite simply rubbish. My increased awareness of just how good Doctor Who can be just makes it seem like such a waste.

Well seeing their own hands didn't seem to be a problem for them infact they spent most of their 'lives' hiding behind them, I could never get my head around quantum stuff so that's the best I can do.

I'm guessing one of the angels in an effort to scare her off. When that didn't work, or when they noticed that she had a message from The Doctor, then they took the kid gloves off.

I thought last weeks episode was overall better than "Blink" even though yesterday's instalment was an excellent episode in it's own right and once again the Moffat monsters in this episode were not that scary, but I did find their presence mildly unnerving and very bizarre - I doubt the Weeping Angels in their "stone" statue form is their real appearance and they're likely something much, much worse when flashing about between human blinks (they're no more stone than the TARDIS is wood and they were perhaps blending into the surrounding scenery like the TARDIS supposedly should).

And they do not technically kill and that takes some of the venom out of Weeping Angel encroachment scenes, even though the creatures ruin their victim's lives by roughly transplanting them into the distant past. However the first target (Sparrow's friend) still had a relatively pleasant and long life, even though she was kidnapped against her will from her nominal timeline - but I agree that Shipton had a more tragic end by being randomly dumped in 1969 and ending up a late middle aged guy dying from terminal cancer in 2007 (funny I saw another old black dude dying from terminal cancer in NCIS ten-fifthteen minutes later

).

All in all "Blink" is a better episode than the controversial "Love & Monsters", although "L&M" was a much better episode than given credit for and people were getting too hung up about the slightly silly monster played by Peter Kay.

I assume most people think thinks that Moffat should be given Head-writership when Davis naffs off next year?

He would be a strong contender but I prefer Paul Cornell because he's still relatively young and likely has fresher ideas than either Moffat or Davies.

Moffat is writing a two partner next season.

I agree Moffat is a fabulous writer, his comedy show Coupling is one of my all time favourites too. I've loved all of his Doctor Who eps. He's definitely one of the candidates for head writer/executive producer of the show I think.

But then I don't think RTD has done too badly myself. I've enjoyed every episode of the new series, even some of the ones which I felt were a let down, had big disappointments or were just generally substandard. Even the atrocious Fear Her had moments that made me smile.

It's really just a shame that the first half of season 3 was so crap. I was watching the first season again last week, and it's really great powerful stuff, with awesome themes all over the place. The third season tried to do things, but it just ended up being a mess - the greatest example being the Dalek 2-parter, which after the previous Dalek appearances was just meh.

The frist three episodes of S3 was pretty good IMO.

Yes, I liked Gridlock and I was happy to see the Macra again.

They werent any classic feel to them(until the end of Gridlock) but they where fun to watch.

Back to this episode. Very good episode. Liked the characters and the story. Good scary monsters too, always a plus.

Gridlock amused me plenty enough. I guess it's whatever floats your boat though.

The only outright bad episodes, in my mind, have been the Dalek ones. Which is pretty criminal if you're a dedicated Doctor Who fan.

I thought this season started stronger than the last one. TSC was great, Gridlock pretty decent. Just goes to show how opinions can differ.

Guess you'd have to reflect more than one, so they'll see each other, or just use the mirrors to let yourself see in more directions at once.

Makes sense. They had the key at that point and were just looking for the TARDIS. Seeing the Doctor's name written on the wall would be rather eyebrow-raising clue about what direction to take.

I really like how well the Time-Travel was integrated into this episode, with people in the past leaving notes to their future friend, conversations with a recording of a man who knows exactly what you're going to say, and the whole thing being one big Ontological paradox of the doctor reading off of the script which was transcribed from a recording of his reading of it.
