The interior of the ship has occasionally looked suspisiously like TV center without people in it, and in the movie version of the Cloister Room was definately decorated in style with the console room, although it is still on the 'time-sceptre,' I suppose.Big Orange wrote:It would cool that deep within the TARDIS' bowls the "desktop" has not be changed to coral, so the architecture of the rooms and corridors would be unchanged since the 60s, 70s, and 80s, with the old school technology, architecture, and furniture melding in with the 00s TARDIS architecture (think that TOS-era Feddie starship from Enterprise or DS9's "Trials and Tribble-ations").
That would be good to see.Maybe we could bring back the Family of Blood, with Doctor releasing all of them, trying to rehabilitating them, and the Doctor making up for being so cruel to them the first time round...

The Doctor had the audit to simply kill them all, and they supposedly had a limited mayfly scale lifespan anyway, buy keeping them alive forever, and essentially burying them alive for perhaps forever with their conscious still intact seemed grossly excessive, even after what the scumbags did. And the Doctor is a big hypocrite and speciest as well, when just a few weeks later he seemingly wanted to treat the Master with far more leniency and mercy than he deserved, on the grounds of being fellow Time Lords...General Zod wrote:Are you smoking crack or something? Infinite punishment for finite crime?General Zod wrote:Are you smoking crack or something? Frankly the Family deserved what they got.
That's the morality of Jehovah and Allah. I'm disappointed to see that it's yours.

Interestingly I just wanted the family of blood again tonight.
I felt that the punishments were very spur of the moment for the doctor in hot blooded revenge for what he had to give up to cease being Dr Smith.
I do think that some point in the future he would come back and release them from there prison although wether it would happen on screen I dont know.

The situation was somewhat more complicated than that though. If the Family had never found the Doctor, they'd have died off due to natural causes, effectively a death sentence. As it is they still got to live in the end, just imprisoned for the rest of their existence. Should the Doctor have just let them die off naturally after all the killing they did?NecronLord wrote: Infinite punishment for finite crime?

Yeah. I can understand the whys of it (despite the vaunted wisdom of the Time Lord) but I would have preffered it to seem a lot less like his attitude remained for years "He visits her every year" though I suppose he could have time-travelled down the years in minutes...

Eternal punishment is immoral. If he decided to punish them otherwise, letting them die off, or just plain stoving their heads in with rocks would have been much better than 'poetic justice.'General Zod wrote:The situation was somewhat more complicated than that though. I'm not really sure that works when you get to creatures like the Family who are incredibly long lived or otherwise nearly immortal. They were going to die off already without the Doctor so killing them wouldn't have really been much of a punishment. As it is he virtually gave them what they wanted but took away their ability to cause anymore harm.NecronLord wrote: Eternal punishment is immoral. Omega was a Gallifreyan, whose lifespan they covet. Being forced to dwell in absolute lonliness beyond a black hole, which the Doctor inflicted on 'mother of mine' was absolute torture for him, and sent him mad.General Zod wrote:I'm not really sure that works when you get to creatures like the Family who are incredibly long lived or otherwise nearly immortal.
I guess Omega was justified when he said “You should be on your knees, screaming for the Universe to forgive you. For all my reputation as a warlord, a tyrant, a megalomaniac¹, I am a fragile flower compared to you. Who is the monster here, Doctor? Tell me that!”
¹ Doubtless because he doesn't seem to have actually committed these crimes. They're probably made up. He seems to have killed one person. And was certainly not in control of his actions at the time.

There's much less of a gray area with the Family though, since they gladly admit to killing people and using them as pawns as it suits them.NecronLord wrote: ¹ Doubtless because he doesn't seem to have actually committed these crimes. They're bad people. But most people's morality (and the Doctor's especially) doesn't say 'you can do whatever you like to criminals.'General Zod wrote:There's much less of a gray area with the Family though, since they gladly admit to killing people and using them as pawns as it suits them.

So should they have been sentenced to death instead? At least this way the Doctor can release them if he ever changes his mind. It's somewhat more difficult if they're actually dead.NecronLord wrote: They're bad people.
