Also, all a tyranid hive would have to do is gather a variaty of genetic material from various planets and start mixing and matching it until it finds something that can work effectively against the Xeno's, anyway.

Why would they have to do that? The Tyranids already have everything they need to be effective against Xenomorphs. Like, you know, ranged weapons and artillery. And actual intelligence.

This of course leads to questions like "what do you call genre in which monsters french kiss each other to shove their ovipositors down each other's throats?" and "why is there already a manga for it?"

Actually, I think is something to consider here. You often get this nonsense about how the Xenomorphs are some sort of awesome biological weapon, specifically designed to inspire horror, spread fear and perpetuate acts of supreme violence. That they're cunning and deadly, able to act as stealthy killing machines, like ... Rambo with added mollusc.

The Tyranids are what some people want the Xenomorphs to be. They might be animals, but they're animals with a pretty good understanding of 'combined arms', 'planning' and 'biological Von Neumann machine'. It's actually more silly, but at least it fits more with the 'ultimate lifeform RAR' nuttery you can stumble across among Alien fans.

Besides, I think any incident with xenomorphs chewing up Colonial Marines is like US soldiers getting mangled by zoo tigers in Baghdad.

Xenos don't strike as being anything near what an "ultimate lifeform rar" would look or act like. Mike put it best when he said that they get slaughtered by the dozens by a single squad of ineptly led, surrounded and vastly outnumbered marines who have no idea what they're up against. In fact, the only time the Xenos seem to have any success at all is when hitting outnumbered and underprepared opponents.

Xenos are the kind of weapon you'd smuggle into low priority areas to damage civilian morale through general ickyness and to tie up resources for regular medical checking of a populace to control infections rather than actually cause any damage.
