I feel less guilty of punching in "4". The best Gatiss script since "The Unquiet Dead", with decent acting and directing helping, though it did end rather abruptly.

'Secondly, I don't see why "income inequality" is a bad thing. Poverty is not an injustice. There is no such thing as causes for poverty, only causes for wealth. Poverty is not a wrong, but taking money from those who have it to equalize incomes is basically theft, which is wrong.' - Typical Randroid

I still think the best Smith episode so far has been "The Doctor's Wife", of course that was written my Gaiman, now if we could just get Pratchett to write a new who episode....

I think the best one I've seen is Vincent and the Doctor. I don't know why, that one just really stuck with me more than the others.
Yeah, I've always taken the subtext of the Birther movement to be, "The rules don't count here! This is different! HE'S BLACK! BLACK, I SAY! ARE YOU ALL BLIND!?

Just had a thought. Past series have had episodes look like one offs but they contain something important for later on, like the Family of Blood setting up the chameleon arc / pocket watch for the return of The Master.

What if Melody/River isn't actually Rory and Amy's child but is one of the alien things from this episode. IIRC it was never explained in Impossible Astronaught how the child was calling Nixon's phone, the aliens in this episode can cry for help by a variety of means because of their psychic powers.
It's also a possible explanation for River being a timelord beyond the wibbly-wobbly-timey-wimey reason, the alien wants to fit in. While Amy and Rory are human they are doing a lot of time travel going to many varied places. What better way to fit in than by being a time lord, one of which is convieniently close by to copy.

I'm doing some wild guessing here but I'm reserving my right to cry "I called it!" if it's right.

Actually I think it was said that the astronaut suit had built in communcations that would automatically try to connect to the highest authority in the area, in this case the president.

The bad guys canonically vacuumed baby River Song out of pregnant Amy's vagina, so her not being Amy's child can't work.

Wasn't the alien cuckoo also born? He wasn't the full human pregnency term but he was inside at some point wasn't he? Could have sworn one of the photos was from the birthing room.

If he did just appear and then mass changed everyones memories to remember him being born then that does blow a massive hole in my theory.

This episode definitely suffered from being moved. It was originally written and filmed with the intent of being the fourth episode in the season and it shows, both in the characterization and in the not-so-subtle 'foreshadowing' to Amy being a flesh avatar near the end.
