Why should androids be required to include metal and plastic parts? As long as they're synthetic and made to resemble humans what speaks against grouping them all together? The explicitely named androids in Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep don't contain any metal or plastic either after all.
People at birth are naturally good. Their natures are similar, but their habits make them different from each other.

Because Cylons do not contain synthetic materials either?

A decision must be made in the life of every nation at the very moment when the grasp of the enemy is at its throat. Then, it seems that the only way to survive is to use the means of the enemy, to rest survival upon what is expedient, to look the other way. Well, the answer to that is 'survival as what'? If a key determination of android status is its being artificial, they should count and do well.
I don't think they do as they don't have any metal or plastic in them.
Indeed, is that a requirement?

Blade Runner replicants and Cylon skinjobs are right at the top of the pile when it comes to being human, I think.. on a physical level, they're almost completely indistinguishable by medical scans, and on an emotional level they're indistinguishable even to the android itself.

If they need metal and plastic parts, then I assume they're both out, but Crossroads established that the criteria are "Not just physically, but emotionally?", which implies that physical similarity to humans is still one of the criteria we're dealing with, in which case metal and plastic parts make them easy to detect.

I'm not sure how the Replicants and Cylons are "built" though, because if they're born or grown (rather than built), that does seem to make them qualify less as androids and more as clones of some sort.

They must contain something. One of them plugged into the Galactica's ships systems and transmitted some command that shut down an entire Cylon attack fleet. Also there must be something extra in them because they are harmed by EM fields and one assumes some sort of technological transmitter since they can resurrect with full memories if in range of a Resurrection Ship.

Well, at least not in quantities noticeable by vivisection, microscope or showing on any scan.

Its "Magic" nothing else to explain it..

If you can hack a ships computer, interface with some magical dreamworld, be able to shut down advanced robots from miles away inside a spaceship, and yet your biology does Not seem different in ANY way from a normal human?
It's bullshit really.

In the traditional Scifi sense of "Android" from what I have seen I am going with the Commonwealth androids as most over all versatile.

Dont forget that human form Cylons are also effortlessly stronger than normal humans as seen when Six was throwing around Starbuck.

Endurance too- Sharon Agathon demonstrated this when she was stuck on Caprica with Helo, he noticed that no matter how far they went or how fast, she never got tired.

Yeah, but they must have some sort of interface if they can stick wires into their body and control electronics.
