The Chamber of Secrets also has more about the corruption of people in power, has a lot of people blaming Harry for the attacks, and has Hermione getting petrified. Plus it reveals Voldemort was attacking and murdering his fellow students with a giant snake while he was a teenager. Its definitely darker than The Philosopher's Stone.

Man the fucking irony in saying this in a thread about DOCTOR WHO.jwl wrote:By that I mean all of her monsters and wizards and stuff were either pretty generic (excluding dementors) or taken from existing stories (like the basilisk).
What is Project Zohar?
Here's to a certain mostly harmless nutcase.

Which is precisely my point. When you read a doctor who book, you are reading sci-fi.Eternal_Freedom wrote:Does it really matter if none of her ideas are new? She tells them well. I don't care if the magic system is not explained with time-stop and bio-bombs. If I wanted that stuff I would read SF. Harry Potter is a children's/young adults fantasy book about a kid at boarding school with magic.
Never said it was a major problem for harry potter. I just prefer doctor who stuff to be not about generic aliens.Again, so what if that's unoriginal? What matters for me is how well it is written and presented. Frankly I almost like the lack of originality, it makes the work comfortingly familiar; you don't get caught up in the details of the new and original magic system and can spend more time on the characters.

That's pretty hilarious saying you want originality from DW. Plus, the technobabble is just as grating in DW as is it in Harry Potter. Again, I don't really care how a system works as long as it's consistent and written well.
If she really is writing a book for this, I'll probably read it. Only then will I decide whether it's good or not.

Baltar: "I don't want to miss a moment of the last Battlestar's destruction!"
Centurion: "Sir, I really think you should look at the other Battlestar."
Baltar: "What are you babbling about other...it's impossible!"
Centurion: "No. It is a Battlestar."
Corrax Entry 7:17: So you walk eternally through the shadow realms, standing against evil where all others falter. May your thirst for retribution never quench, may the blood on your sword never dry, and may we never need you again.
