I'm inclined to believe you, were it not for the part where she regenerated right after the Doctor left :P
Yeah, I've always taken the subtext of the Birther movement to be, "The rules don't count here! This is different! HE'S BLACK! BLACK, I SAY! ARE YOU ALL BLIND!?

Not a normal regeneration, at any rate. Those are fast.

Edit: Well, to be fair, Ten and Eleven both had absurdly drawn out regeneration scenes. And their might be other such examples. But it still happened before death occurred.

Ten expected her to be capable of regenerating, but also expected that she chose not to, and then she apparently gets healed by the Source or something.

So genetically Gallifreyan, and probably capable of regenerating, but we don't know for sure yet.

Well regeneration seems to be at least partially under conscious control so it might be a taught 'skill' he might not have expected Jenny to know how to.

It's not clear why she regenerated so late, it might be the source although it's also been seen that regeneration can be delayed, Doctor 7 into Doctor 8 seemed to have taken a while which might be due to drugs or the cold.

Oh yeah. I forgot about Eight.

In any case, I hope we get Jenny back. Seems a shame to create a character whose's existence has such huge implications for your protagonist, have them cheat death, and then never have them appear again.

There was an interview where one of the showrunners (Russell T Davies?) admitted that Jenny originally supposed to die, but they decided to keep her around... and promptly forgot about her.

I'll go see if I can dig it up.
Turns out that a five way cross over between It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, the Ali G Show, Fargo, Idiocracy and Veep is a lot less funny when you're actually living in it.

The Doctor is coming to a theater near you.

Two Doctor Who episodes are headed to the big screen in September for a two-night event, BBC Worldwide North America announced Tuesday.

The screening, held through Fathom Events, will include the two-part season 8 finale (episodes “Dark Water” and “Death in Heaven”) in 3D, a never-before-seen season 9 prequel scene (“The Doctor’s Meditation”), and an exclusive interview with the stars Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman, moderated by Wil Wheaton.

The British science-fiction series, which has a significant cult following in the U.S., had similar events for the show’s 50th anniversary and season 8 premiere in 2013 and 2014, respectively.

The screenings will take place on Sept. 15 and 16 in approximately 700 theaters across America. Tickets go on sale on July 31 at Fathom Events or participating box offices.
That they're doing this for old episodes makes me thing that they're really, really trying to promote Missy, which suggests that they're trying to build support for eventually having a female Doctor. But we'll see.

Ha, called it. Article on Facebook this morning quoting Masie Williams (or however that girl from GoT's name is spelled) talking about how she's playing "a totally original character." So once again we pass over the opportunity for some great continuity with the classic series in favour of yet another character who knows the Doctor from his past but we've just never seen her before.

To be fair, that's something the classic series itself was plenty guilty of, particularly in the mid-late 80s when we had the likes of "Timelash," which was meant to be a sequel to some off-screen Third Doctor adventure, and villains like Lady Peinforte and Fenric, who'd had enthralling, mind-bending previous encounters with the Doctor entirely off-camera.

Plus, the BBC do seem to put some limits on references to more obscure bits of continuity. RTD had supposedly wanted to incorporate a lot more references to classic series stories in "Love & Monsters," but his superiors overruled him and ordered him to only reference stories from the new series.

I like it when Doctor Who introduces new things. I don't want it to become what I suspect many fans foolishly crave- a franchise mired in nostalgia, forever rehashing the past. Doctor Who is built around and thrives on change.

And I don't mind if they have new things that refer to something that happened off-screen. The Doctor has had a long life with plenty of room for off-screen stories that weren't previously mentioned.

But I don't like it if Moffat is doing it again. For him, its doing something he's done before. It leads me to question his creativity and suitability to run the show.

And of course, it is important to touch on old stuff from time to time.

Well, Moffat doesn't seem to have a history of telling J.J. Abrams level whoopers about original/retro characters, far as I recall. In that case, Maisie Williams's character will probably be another Gallifreyean (some other relative of the Doctor's?).

New teaser is up:

Can't say I particularly care for most of. Looks like there's a lot of the usual Moffat stuff that's become very repetitive.

And is that Clara with a rocket launcher?

I'm intrigued by the blockheads; have we seen anything like this before? Their suits kind of look like they're meant to insulate the wearer from the horribly frigid (or possibly searing) temperatures — where water is actually a liquid! — that humans find comfortable...

Don't much care either way. I thought River was okay at first, loathed every episode she's been in from Let's Kill Hitler onward, and think the overall River arc is crap. I'd like to see her get a good send off, but don't think Moffat will deliver it.
