I take it everyone else agrees that Harvey is awesome?

Harvey is beyond fantastic and possibly my favorite character in a series full of brilliant characters.

The existence of Harvey really did demonstrate what an excellent actor that guy (mental blank time!) was. He could go from cold psychopathic bastard to comedy roles seemingly at will.

I agree that Farscape is awesome!

In an era when everyone was trying to either make the next Star Trek or respond to it by being their own NotStar Trek, I think it was best at doing it's own thing.

Been a while since I watched it, but I do love it and it remains one of my all time favorites. I remember power watching it on netflix and not originally aired but was very satisfied with it. I started very early rooting for the young couple since the very early hints of a hook up and was both pleasantly rewarded and soul crushingly sad with creeping tears as I watched their... struggles. The cast was solid, the characters and their chemistry was brilliant. You watched it not for some awesome mega plot, you watched it to see what your favorite characters would say and do in new situations. Some of the follow up movies were iffy but...
They say, "the tree of liberty must be watered with the blood of tyrants and patriots." I suppose it never occurred to them that they are the tyrants, not the patriots. Those weapons are not being used to fight some kind of tyranny; they are bringing them to an event where people are getting together to talk. -Mike Wong

But as far as board culture in general, I do think that young male overaggression is a contributing factor to the general atmosphere of hostility. It's not SOS and the Mess throwing hand grenades all over the forum- Red

I think one of the keys to its success is that the cast seemed to have a great deal of fun making it.
It seems that everyone, at some point or another, got to try on the ol' Scorpios makeup and/or suit.

And you can never unsee the episode where Dargo was Jool.

Watched an episode today for the first time in a little while and while the plotting was good, one thing did strike me-- the effects (ship effects mainly) were... well, pretty dated. No question for the early 00's they were pretty decent, but compared to say Clone Wars, which is albeit an animated show with a somewhat different visual style than a live action show, the effects are pretty baldly poor by modern standards. When you pair that off with the top-notch makeup (seriously, it's hard to tell that D'Argo is actually a guy in costume sometimes), great puppet work and pretty decent set design, it's just a bit jarring.

Of course I'm sure I would probably feel the same way about, say, B5 or TNG should I watch those as well... it's a sign of the times, I suppose.

Yeah, I thought that when I first started watching Stargate SG-1. The first scene with Apophis and his goons made me snort at how awkward they looked, and it was certainly rough around the edges for a good few seasons. It looked a lot better in later seasons though, around the time the Replicators started coming into play if I recall.
Man...it's been a long time since I watched it.
Yeah, I've always taken the subtext of the Birther movement to be, "The rules don't count here! This is different! HE'S BLACK! BLACK, I SAY! ARE YOU ALL BLIND!?

Destiny and fate are for those too weak to forge their own futures. Where we are 'supposed' to be is irrelevent.

Yeah, Stargate started around the same period. I suspect it's just that TV sci-fi special effects were cheesy because they couldn't really afford to do better and still do fancy sets, costumes and what not. Stargate had the privilege of being able to really settle in and get its effects right because it had such a long run.

I do remember watching Peacekeeper Wars and thinking that the effects looked significantly better there... but of course that movie was made a few years after the original Farscape series ended, IIRC.
