City: Hmmm...I live in Australia so there's not much in the way of firearms, and there's NOTHING in my house I could use as a weapon bar some garden tools. However our house is second level with a STURDY front door, I could hide in there for a fair while
Welcome Aussie, I don't think I noticed you previously...
I'm Aussie too btw. My fault for having smart-ass location quote
As for this Resident Evil thing... i'd piss my pants.
Complex: Ergh . . . I have no expirience with handling weapons of any type. The puzzles would be easy for me, but unless they have medicine that works the same way as in the game (instantly) I'm toast. I probably wouldn't use guns for most of the zombies, but just throw objects at them until they fall, then run.
City: Not sure where I can get weapons (I'm a college student) but I used to be on the cross country team. Therefore, RUN!! However, this is downtown Los Angeles, so the terrain could get a bit tricky.
I'd make super-concentrated chunks of sugar from any candy I can find, and then make some kind of air-powered bazooka. Maybe if I can shoot enough into their mouths that'll rot their teeth and they won't be able to bite me.
I'd give my self a 40% chance at best in the complex.
The City one however would be much easier. I pity those without home arsenals.
I have an AR-15, AK-47, Bren light machine, and 80 odd other rifles, shotguns and handguns along several thousand rounds of ammunition in my attic. However most the guns are from 1920 or earlier, bolt action is not something you put against zombies. I also have about 20 gallons of gas and a damn lot of empty wine bottles on hand to make firebombs with.
I'd take the AR and a shotgun, Bren is to heavy and I don't have enough ammunition for the AK to want to take the extra weight. I'd be able to get out on foot quite easily, though I might use my mountain bike.
I'm under 20 miles from a city of several million, but where I am, while heavily developed has a low population density, all suburban homes for the most part and once I get about 10-15 miles east things really thin out into the country side.
However I might just go for the fortress angle. Less then a block away is a moderate sized apartment building. The roof has only one way up, which has a heavy door. There are balconies one could drop down to but not climb up from should escape be required. Plus there's a separate building which houses the elevator engines on top, which I could use for shelter while still only needing to guard one stairway up.
In addition a well-stocked food store is also only about a block away.
