Yes it would be a smaller area but I rather a sealed bulkhead with a reinforced door to get access. To me it just screams of the situation of depressurization from one deck to the other deck immediately instead of prevented it by being already sealed.
Point. However, they still have the bulkheads; plus, its large size notwithstanding, I got the impression that it was primarily a sleeper ship being used for recon missions due to lack of available ships. There's really not much way to explain the small number of crew during the Captain's address, and the 'hundreds' Teyla and Ronon mentioned after walking through...
Of course, I'm uncertain on the precise size of the ship. In any case, I'm just tossing that idea out there... it may be that the Ancients have the technology to prevent rapid depressurization very quickly, so they're not concerned about leaving the ladder hatches open while the ship's airtight. *Shrugs* It's just a minor concern... the dustbuster handguns were more bothersome, actually

Ronan and Weir? They've played more on a possible Ronan/Teyla angle.
I think that was the first time we've actually seen him use that sword.

To be fair, I'm not entirely sure that the handguns are all that sensitive to what direction they're being pointed when it comes to hitting a target. If you look at the way everyone is holding them while they fire, something tells me it might even be something like a lantern, in that those fog-glass like sides might be what emits the weapon's potent bit instead of the tip.

I know, I just wanted to shoehorn my "He's Wolverine!!111!!". And since Weir's the leading female a la Jean Grey.....
(Though Teyla does have some limited psychic powers....Aaargh! Must make up my mind)

You can already tell they're building up a Sheppard/Weir thing. Notice how she greeted him in Siege part 3? Not to mention that each time he's in trouble, she shows more concern than she would for a red shirt.

I know, that's what makes him good for my shoehorned Cyclops.

This is the ancients we're talking about.
That makes it even more worse....it will still obscure a good aim.

Alot of ancient tech has a semi telepathic element (puddle jumpers, chair weapons)
These weapons probably operate in a same way, they read where your aiming and go hit there.
you'd never miss.

Think of it this way, it doesnt matter how crap a shot you are if you can think of what you want it to target. And it probably has a several thousand year battery too.

complex yes, but not unlikely. That telepathic element has been seen in every piece of ancient weaponry. i wouldn't be at all surprised if that included side arms

They're like the Japanese of alien races.

From what episode is the youth machine from?
I doubt they have one on Atlantis or they would have used it on the old Weir.

Excellent idea. Reminds me of how I tend to assume the necron Staff of Light works. But yes, that makes the ergonomics of the weapon irrelevent and restores my respect for the Ancients a little.

It was from Evolution. For the Ancients, it heals, extends and restores life. It is so powerful that it can give life to inanimate organic matter, Anubis used one to create the Kull warriors. The goa'uld sarcophagus is a vastly toned down version.
As for why, if the Atlantis team had found one, they wouldn't use it on Old Wier. The human body can't cope with its power (hence why the goa'uld made the sarcophagus weaker) and it turns normal humans into zombies. That wouldn't be a problem for the Aurora crew though.
