Photon torpedoes also go of in a fraction of a second, and much closer to the target meansing more of their energy goes in then those 500 MT nukes did, and they can shoot off a spread of 6 in a single volley, and they have a signifigant range advantage.
They seem to be able to fire off a steady stream if they keep the firing rate low enough... E-D volleyed off eight torpedoes in "Encounter At Farpoint".

A DSA I ha more ELS tubes and missile broadside weight than a GHC. I'd tend to say any Systems Patrol Craft or souped up freighter like the Maru would tend to do the job. Say a Brilliant Carapace or Garuda patrol craft. Take a cutter on the high end with a frigate being far too much in the way of overkill.
SyntaxVorlon wrote: Andr.: Virtually all of the Andromeda's fire power comes from missiles,
The AP cannons are several more times powerful than her broadside weight of missiles.
SyntaxVorlon wrote:missiles that are typically unshielded, beams take out missles, pretty simple.
Care to tell us when Shadow cutter beams have intercepted a couple dozen 85+ PSL fist sized missiles before or demonstrated a capability to do so?
SyntaxVorlon wrote: The nietzcheians use plasma-ball weapons but that probably would not be able to hit a battle crab.
Plasma Ball weapons? The Nietzscheans use plasma cannon for orbital defenses but their ships are most likely armed with AP cannons, PDLs, or X-ray lasers. The only ones who seem to use plasma weapons regularly for ship to ship combat would be the Pyrians.

Yes, but it has less AP cannons and PDL turrets (smaller ones as well) and no fighters. That is what I based it off of, not knowing much more about the universe.

Battlecrab vs SG1:

Depends on what ship from SG1 we're talking about. Now I haven't seen much of SG1 so don't take my word for it, but:

SG1 team = Depends. Character shields are in favor of SG1 team.

Goa'uld = I'm not entirely sure but I think a Goa'uld mothership would have a slight edge against the bc.

Asgard = Battlecrabs are so screwed. Molecular slicer beams, meet Asgard disintegrators, which disintegrate ENTIRE ships.

This thread seems absent without rabid Fivers coming in and ranting about how everyone is "underestimating" the Shadows and how their demonstrated onscreen capabilities were only a small fraction of their true (and largely unquantified) power, and how they held back in every respect...

Yeah, Rabid Fivers tend to engage in dick measuring contests by complaining, "But I'm not fully erect yet!" whenever the final measure determines that theirs is the smallest.

More like they like to exaggerate the length into being greater htan it actually is (sort of like trying to treat centimeters like inches :D)

You are all underestimating the Shadows, their demonstrated onscreen capabilities were only a small fraction of their true (and largley quantified) power, they held back in every respect. Image

You forgot to misquote vague references noone but I would have access to. And you forgot to mention that people who work on the show have higher authority than the show itself, that any fan is acomplet eidiotr when it comes to analysis, etc.

I just remembered to successfully quote references everyone except you has access to. And I also just remembered to mention that people who work on the show have higher authority than the show itself, and that any fan is a complete genius when it comes to analysis.Image

*buries head in hands, laughing* Too true, and too fucking sad. During B5’s run, I constantly defended it against rabid Trekkie freaks. But nowadays, it seems Fivers are even more unrealistically fanatical than their Trekkie counterparts.

For SG-1, I think that a Goa'uld Mothership would rip the Battlecrab apart. They couldn't stand up to nukes, but the Goa'uld shrugged off a 1000 megaton nuke with only a light shudder.
