ID4 Aliens vs DS9 era Earth
Moderator: NecronLord
Alright, Size matters not.
But what will tell the Feddies that the ID$ are here with hostile intentions? What if they want to make contact (sic)? Thats the way the Feddies think, and i would not be suprised if the didint realise they where here for war untill 83 cities where roasted.
And the mothership carries MILLIONS of fighter, ok, they arent perfect, but its still a important factor.

Have you noticed that anything, be it V'Ger, the whale probe, borg cube, Voyager, coming straight to earth is assumed hostile?Necro99 wrote:Alright, Size matters not.

And those fighters are powerless without the main ships (as per the movie, the power onl;y came on whent he ships returned) so take out the other ships and the fihters aren't an issue. And the mothership carries MILLIONS of fighter, ok, they arent perfect, but its still a important factor.
Besides, I want to know how the aliens are going to get through the Earth's shields

Doesn't the Prime Directive prohibit the feddies from making contact with aliens that haven't developed warp drives? They said so in a certain Voyager episode and the ID4 aliens haven't showed any warp capabilities.
The federation will therefor hide from the aliens to prevent them from finding out that there are ways of travelling faster than light (or whatever the reason they can't be detected by species that haven't developed warp). Thus, the ID4 aliens win. All because of the Prime Directive.

Ok even feddies aren't so dumb to allow an unknown ship to enter it's atmosphere. And as for those "millions of fighters" they are shit. One torp each and they are no longer a threat.
Even a communist earth wouldn't be defencless. You've all seen how well armed DS9 is armed Earth would be way more heavily armed.

I think the mothership would crack the planet in two if it crashed, or if it was even defeated.

Do you have any screencaps of the damage? This is one of the few DS9 episodes I missed. (fucking local baskeball game booted it off the air and UPN didn't re-broadcast it.)AWACS wrote:The Breen orbitally bombarded San Francisco. If Earth had had a planetary shield they wouldn't have been able to do that.

Wouldn't the ID4 aliens avoid a technologically advanced planet like UFP Earth in the first place? That would nix the idea of this thread, but I thought that was their MO.
Also, I would think that they would have to have some sort of FTL capability, even if this is not addressed in the film. If they go planet to planet, consuming natural rescourses, this would constitute a plan with continuity that I think wouldn't survive eons of generational STL interstellar travel. Then again, the critters might live to be a jillion years old!

According to the novel, its a generational ship. No FTL drive of any kind.

Probably.
Unless we're taking TNG penchant for peace until our crewmen are dying left and right...I say The Feds would send a peace envoy...it gets destroyed because they approach with shields down and the ID4 aliens kill them...to which the Federation destroys them with pretty much impunity, with some survivors to discuss peaceful cultural negotiations.
Sorry they outclass ID4 aliens in the respects of speed of their craft and firepower.

actually, a semi-valid arguement would be that it simpley ahs the mass to take whatever the Feds throw at it. Fromt he pic, the damn things bigger than the DS, and the feds could just wail away at it without removing an appreciable amout of mass before it just crashes into Earth.
No, wait that's a stupid idea. Never mind, but it's out there anyways if somebody can think of a way of using it.
