The new shuttles do, but I'm referring to the classic design shuttle above the modern one in that screen capture. That model was used in the pilot for the peace delegation officer's shuttle when he docked with the Armistice Station.

Hmmm, interesting episode. Very interesting.

I wonder what Galactica Boomer is going to think of Tyrol now :D

I realized the other night the Zarak must have went up with the Cloud 9. Otherwise he would have been the first one stand up to Baltar, unless he has alrady been thrown in jail.

Yeah, did Zarek just want Roslin completely out of office, because Baltar and him have nothing in common beyond that.

Or maybe he thinks it'll be easier to pull off his insurrection and take power if Baltar is in office. I'd expect him to be right along Tyrol at that Union meeting.

Three things:

- Wow, they didn't destroy the Pegasus overtly - they just took all its crew. ;)

- So pissed off that I saw a spoiler last week in a thread that announced that Baltar would be President - kind of spoilt the first half of the episode!

- This has to be one of the most dramatic plot twists that I have ever seen. S3 will be very interesting - but sadly by the time it is released I will no longer have net access, so this very well might be my last BSG for a long time. :(

Well, we have a whole year's worth of possible situations where Zarek could disappear into. He could be involved with a criminal underground of some kind, a member of an as yet unseen resistance to the rule of Baltar not affiliated with Tyrol, etc. I suppose he could have been killed, but I will not be surprised to see him again. Otherwise, it seems a rather abrupt death of the character, but then again, we can't put it past the producers. :D

Seriously. Thanks a lot to the assholes who can't see a distinction between speculating with information up to the events specific to the presently aired episode, and full-bore spoilers.

Yeah, I'm wondering that too.

I wonder if the writers will press it into military service. It would be cool to see ships other than Galactica and Pegasus fighting.

It will be interesting to see if any of this animal life will be shown. Is there any mention of humans from the 12 colonies coming into contact with alien life of any kind? If it ever has come up in any episode, I can't remember it. Something tells me we aren't going to see a lot of forehead aliens in BSG (thank the maker), but some depiction of some living alien animals wouldn't be too bad.

Then again, maybe that vendor was selling some sort of plant matter? I didn't get a good look at it.

I didn't read the first of the thread because there were 12 fraking pages before I even watched it, so I appologize if this has been brought up already.

I was watching the episode again when I thought I saw collateral damage form the Cloud Nine explosion. So I go back and frame by frame through it, and sure enough, at least 3 other ships bite the dust, including at lest one cargo ship. I also think a shuttle or raptor gets taken out as it was approaching Cloud Nine. I may go back and get sme screencaps later.

No one has provided any screenshots of the ships blown up, so please do go ahead. :)

There was definitely a small shuttle approaching Cloud 9. A container transport and what looked like two passenger liners went down, along with the camera ().

I'm pretty sure the freighter was the Geminon Freighter of original fame. Interestingly enough, it was also destroyed in Galactica 1980.

I loved that reference to the miniseries when the Armistice Station's camera got knocked around. :D

Looking at that screenshot reinforces my idea that all ships able to land did, and the rest were left in orbit.

Okay, so first the shuttle gets it, then this unidentified ship goes down. Next comes the frieghter, followed presumably by two passenger liners.

I appologize for the craptasticness of the pics, I just don't have time to force Photobucket into keeping the images at their original resolution and quality.

The first one is probably a shuttle, given it is bright white.

The second ship is a Colonial Movers-type.

The third is also a Colonial Movers-type. Are you sure it's not the second ship?

I can't tell what the one on the left is in the fourth pic, but the right one is definitely a mining ship (note the three bright dots that form the flat "hub" of the film can segments the ship is made up of). Are you sure that the lower right ship was destroyed? It looks far away enough to have been merely obscured by the blast debris.

It's definitely destroyed. It shatters a few frames later. The mystery ship is a container transport (Colonial Movers type), and I suspect it's the same ship we see destroyed in the next cut.

Is it possible there was a ship or ships behind the Cloud 9, between it and the planet, out of view?

Assuming all the ships that survived were able to jump (it looks as if they all did, but frankly I would have preferred that some had been left behind because the jump drive failed due to lack of maintenance, etc.) we can compare that number next season with what is known to be an accurate count (whatever that is) before the Cloud 9 takes the others with it.

Yes, there is a jump cut in the POV that's a closer view of one of the smaller ships being caught up in the blast.
