Oh, sorry for asking a stupid question.
Hear is hopefully a better question, will Captain Jack be with us the entire fourth season? Does Barrowman have a contract to continue with Dr Who or will he return only to Torchwood season 2?

Not sure yet, though I would presume he'll crop up in DW again in the future if TW is being renewed. They kind've intertwine a lot given the subject matter.Gustav32Vasa wrote:Oh, sorry for asking a stupid question.

Ok one thing that has been bugging me. How did the TARDIS get from the police station lock up into the cellar of the house? Did the angle's move it there or is it in two places at once. like it was in 'The Two Doctors' ?

Torchwood was renewed before the first season had even finished.

The Angels needed to find the Tardis after the cops moved it to the impound garage. They followed Sparrow (she notices them on the church), wait for Sparrow to leave, throw the cop back through time and take the Tardis back to the mansion.Hitch Hiker wrote:Ok one thing that has been bugging me. Damn, that was a good episode.
I now plan to move my little Buddha statue to the computer desk, where I can always watch the little guy.

Once again I atleast found the "are you my mommy" children and weeping angels are far scarier than anything else the recent series have come up with most which aren't even the least bit memorable never mind scary.Big Orange wrote:I thought last weeks episode was overall better than "Blink" even though yesterday's instalment was an excellent episode in it's own right and once again the Moffat monsters in this episode were not that scaryPlekhanov wrote:The more I think about it the more the brilliance of this episode pisses me off, Moffat does one episode a season (ok & one 2 parter) all of which are ace yet the bulk of episodes are given to far inferior writers who churn out far inferior stuff.
Not really, the prospect of never seeing your friends and family again, them having no idea what happened to you and you ending up something guaranteed to be far worse than 21st century Britain seems quite scary enough a prospect to me.And they do not technically kill and that takes some of the venom out of Weeping Angel encroachment scenes
It occurs that since they throw people a consistent, small amount of time (ie several people to 1969) there is a significant chance of paradox. That's only thirty-odd years, and the disappearances have been happening for some time: the possibility of one of the disappeared guys showing up and saying 'hey dudez that's my car ps the statues sent me back in time' in their old age is high.
Moffat was born in 61 Cornell in 67 do you really think those 6 years make any real difference to anything?Big Orange wrote:He would be a strong contender but I prefer Paul Cornell because he's still relatively youngDartzap wrote:
I assume most people think thinks that Moffat should be given Head-writership when Davis naffs off next year?
What 'fresh' ideas has Cornell come up with so far?and likely has fresher ideas than either Moffat or Davies.
I was thinking, this episode has one strange flaw which fucks everything up. The angels act as if WE are their, in universe. For instance, after Cathy's been snatched Sally goes into a room with three of them. Dispite the fact she can't see the one behind her and they've all got their eyes covered it still remains stone until we can also not see it. How the hell is that supposed to work?

Perhaps we are in their universe. The Doctor did warn us not to blink.Lost Soal wrote:I was thinking, this episode has one strange flaw which fucks everything up. Perhaps they were effected by peripheral awareness?Lost Soal wrote:I was thinking, this episode has one strange flaw which fucks everything up. The angels act as if WE are their, in universe. ...and yeah, next ep looks interesting, but I do worry that RTD is going overboard with his ridiculous jumps in time (the year 5 billion was his doing, as was 200,000 for the Dalek eps in season 1, he seems driven to make the numbers humongous while having seemingly little grasp of just how much could change in such a tremendous amount of time). It's the last humans, seemingly in a quarry. It might not work, but I hope it does.

I wonder what they'll do with this episode when it's released on DVD.

They written themselves into a corner with that one and the Daleks were begining to outlive their welcome after being well utilized in the first two seasons.Lord Woodlouse wrote: The only outright bad episodes, in my mind, have been the Dalek ones. Again I would find them blood curdling scary, if I was seven years old. 22 year old me merely finds them bizarre and mildy unnerving. The Ood, scarecrows, Slitheen and clockwork robots are quite memorable monsters as well (the best CGI monsters were the Krillitane).Plekhanov wrote: Once again I atleast found the "are you my mommy" children and weeping angels are far scarier than anything else the recent series have come up with most which aren't even the least bit memorable never mind scary.
You merely get displaced from your nominal timeline and get "killed" from natural causes, I'm not saying their lives are not ruined but I rather be temporarily displaced rather than killed on the spot. Not really, the prospect of never seeing your friends and family again, them having no idea what happened to you and you ending up something guaranteed to be far worse than 21st century Britain seems quite scary enough a prospect to me.

What no poll? You FAIL Valdemar.
But anyway, certainly the best written episode in the whole new series to date, and one of the best overall episodes. Personally I would've liked to see the assassins actually moving, but I suppose that would've detracted from the horror (aside from being beyond the budget).

Last time I checked Doctor Who had a mostly intact fourth wall. But really it's a better episode this way. I just like seeing humanoid flying things, and I don't care how many stories I have to ruin to do so.andrewgpaul wrote:Well, that and the whole point of the Weeping Angels is that no-one sees them move
Sorry, needing to follow the Cult /= needing to write a directionless, redundant, silly episode. After the awesome previous Dalek stories, it was just a crime. But I hear they 'outlived their welcome' which SOMEHOW means writing quality goes down. It had nothing to do with getting some random no-name to write them, am I right Orange?Big Orange wrote:They written themselves into a corner with that one and the Daleks were begining to outlive their welcome after being well utilized in the first two seasons.
