Do we actually get to see that ground battle, or is it just mentioned in passing? If the latter, how does that imply that they curbstomped them?
Terminators have punched through walls and metal. Heck, one terminator put another terminator through a steel wall.
Yes, but Grievous (assuming that I recall correctly) actually bent starship-grade armour with his foot claws. That is rather impressive.

No we do not. I can offer no proof, that is why I offered the reasoning. They did take the planet. The evacuation was not complete by the time the planet fell, so I would assume the stormtroopers defending the planet did die. We know from the HoT duology and previous NJO books that there are plenty of Stormies defending Bastion. Which failed to succeed against what essentially was a raiding force.

In any way, for a ground battle I suppose one can only look at the battle of Ithor.

A terminator took a bank vault apart with his bare fists. I agree the feat displayed by the general does look impressive, but I would have to see a picture of the scene in question.

Then, it seems that the only way to survive is to use the means of the enemy, to rest survival upon what is expedient, to look the other way. Well, the answer to that is 'survival as what'? Any particular reason we should discount that outright? If R2's "jet fuel" is even remotely related to the "jet fuel" that lets an X-wing break orbit twice on one tank of gas, it could easily burn hot enough to melt a T-800 just like a B-2.

Cameron needed thermite to melt a T888 that she deactivated which
"Burns at 2500 degrees Celsius, hot enough to liquefy [the] endoskeleton".

After some quick research on various websites the general consensus is jet fuel doesn't burn any hotter than 1200C.

This is of course assuming that SW 'jet fuel' is anything like ours.

Actually, that particular example is one that puts SW in a very poor light. Grievous's velocity upon impacting the starship was extremely low, roughly equivalant to a person falling onto a flat surface.

Unless someone wants to propose Grievous has a ridiculously enormous amount of mass, his impact should have had no serious effect whatsoever on 'starship grade armour', unless one admits said armor was of incredibly weak strength.

Let's put it this way: even if one proposed infinite strength for Grevious's physical makeup, an obsolete warship by today's standards called the Bismarck wouldn't have even noticed that kind of impact, never mind damaging the hull. He might've scratched the paint a bit...

Mainly because an X-wing isn't chemically powered.

Just a thought.
