From the Q&A with Robert Rodriguez: they asked for and got the right to use and modify Silvestri's score however they saw fit from 20th Century Fox, so he worked with his longtime composer to basically make it sound like Silvestri scored this one again.
Not a creative achievement, but hey, it's a GREAT score.
