Good point and probably a good example why I shouldn’t be given god like powers.

I therefore instead give everyone the natural ability to simply choose not to have kids without even having to wear a condom and hope we get to the space colonisation phase quickly. This might require the magic summoning of a few dozen earth like planets in close vicinity and the magical discovery of an ftl drive. I’m going to rely on the massive increases in living standards I’m hopefully going to bring in to drop the birth rate down.

I may have to limit the immortality clause to 3 to 4 centuries though but I’ll still set people to stop their physical aging in their late 20s to early 30s. But then who is going to be Santa at the shopping centre?

In reality I'd summon the world’s greatest thinkers to a summit on a castle in space to think up better ideas than I could. Although if I’m truly possessing god like powers I could simply goddify myself with great intellect and the ability to accurately predict the outcome of any changes. I’d make goddify a word too.

Instead of repelling on humans getting interstellar technology, you might want to put some portals on earth that lead to other Terran compatible worlds.would help the economy and also take some of the strain off for supporting so many industrialized humans.

Why just help humans? If I got Q powers, I would find out every single aspiring alien races in the universe besides Humans, terraform worlds close to their star system to conditions that suits them, and make them abundant with mineral resources, and move them closer to the sentient races' homeworlds. Then build portals for easy access. Gives them huge boost to space colonization and avoids future conflicts over planets between races, since everyone would have too wealthy to fight over some dead rock.

Then again, they might fight over other reasons, but nothing that subliminal manipulations implant in their heads (no, not wholesale brainwashing/mind control) can't solve.
Life sucks and is probably meaningless, but that doesn't mean there's no reason to be good.

Not that's the way to go about using your powers.

The Q are immortal and near-omnipotent so as soon as i finish helping humanity i'll go out among the stars and become space Buddha, spreading my philosophy on the manor and meaning of life.

Some of these options remind me of a episode of the old Aladdin TV series.

The parrot got Genie powers, so to make everyone like him, he made them all rich.
Because everyone was rich, the price of everything went up, so it took a wheelbarrow of rubies to buy an Apple.
Next change to the city - Economically none.
UNless you were a Chiropractor, in that case your business skyrocketted.
I've been asked why I still follow a few of the people I know on Facebook with 'interesting political habits and view points'.

It's so when they comment on or approve of something, I know what pages to block/what not to vote for.
