Ugly as hell, completely impractical weaponry, but still appeals to people, somehow.
A minute's thought suggests that the very idea of this is stupid. A more detailed examination raises the possibility that it might be an answer to the question "how could the Germans win the war after the US gets involved?" - Captain Seafort, in a thread proposing a 1942 'D-Day' in Quiberon Bay

Thats because it is clearly just a giant cock and balls LaCroix. And everybody loves a giant cock and balls.

Also, Connor, seriously, you think the Naboo fighter is beautiful ugly? Look at it man, its gorgeous, and it is clearly just a Spitfire in space.

It is NOT a cock and balls, it is a friggen Giant Dragon Fly in SPAAACE. for heavens sake.
And of course it's weapon is impractical, it was built as a terror weapon, not a front line battleship.

More of Foss' designs here. I think there's a lot to be said for spaceships which move well away from our present design realities while at the same time not obviously owing their design to wet naval vessels. I'm more excited by ships that look like, say, jellyfish or coral reefs than I am by those that look like aircraft carriers.

I think the Defiant is one of the best looking spaceships out there. Certainly wouldn't classify it as ugly.

The Kushan carrier, from the original Homeworld
From the top
From the bottom

Under full power the engine flare would reach a third the length of the ship and just add this beautiful symmetry to the look. You knew it was underway when it lit that puppy off.

Actually, they do wonders for the aerodynamics in turns.

well I was making a joke because it occured to me, but if I'm being serious I dont think its the least bit ugly. Sure it doesnt neccesarily have a conventional shape like a ISD cheesewedge but its got a definite 'avian' quality which makes it beautiful and interesting as a ship. Kind of like a starfury.. starfuries don't exactly look sleek or anything but there is something about them that is endearing despite that.

It reminds me alot of Romulan Warbirds in that way, which are some of my favorite ST vessels.

Paint it black and that's pretty much what a Shadow tech Starfury would look like.

It wasnt my favorite ship though. I always liked the Galaxy more myself. Had more of a Millenium Falcon vibe to it crossed with a The Last STarfighter Gunstar.

The Swordfish II from Cowboy Bebop. Originally a speed-racer, modified into a fighter carrying an elegant canon. The ship isn't much to look at - a bit like Formula One cars - but it's speed, agility and firepower make up for it.

I've always had a soft spot for the Longsword class from Nexus. Sadly, the image below is the best I can find at short notice.
Image
It's got a pile of engines at the front, a pile of engines at the back and the counter-rotating crew sections in the middle, all topped off with a decent set of armaments. All in all, they look pretty much how I'd like to think a 'realistic' space battleship would look.

A honourable mention also to pretty much any ship from the original Homeworld. Other than the Mothership, every last ship was both memorable and practical-ish. Especially you, Taiidan Assault Frigate.
Image
A perfect example of a ship both being beautiful and pig-ugly at the same time.
According to wikipedia, "the Mohorovičić discontinuity is the boundary between the Earth's crust and the mantle."
According to Starbound, it's a problem solvable with enough combat drugs to turn you into the Incredible Hulk.
