Ahhh...

That makes sense, now that I think of it :)

You're one of the few voices of reason over there.
You've chimed in a number of times that I've seemed
to have been ganged-up on by some of the really
hard-core Fivers (and it's been appreciated).

Anyway, insofar as the topic is concerned--or,
what it's been turned into--we know that all of
Pres. Clarke's "defense satellites" could "level 40% of
the Earth's surface."

Leveling a target is pretty simple. For example,
I am working with a 1/350 scale Klingon Bird of
Prey model. I could easily "level" it by smashing
the body flat. That is PERFECTLY analogous to
"leveling" buildings or other civilized structures.

How much work did I actually do that we can
MEASURE? Not very damn much. I smashed something
with less E expenditure than it'd take to run up a single
flight of stairs quickly.

Leveling means very little. "Wiping out" is pure
guesswork...especially when one considers the
qualifier, "most." How much is "most"? And what
does "wiping out" entail? No survivors? 90% fatality?
40% fatality?

It's something that can't be measured, so it is a shit
source of figures. We do know, however, that leveling
a modern Earth-like target could be accomplished with
repeated mid-kiloton ranged blasts.
Pain, or damage, don't end the world, or despair, or fuckin' beatin's. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, ya got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man ... and give some back.

What the hell is this "Shakkara incident" that everyone's talking about, and what's this SB.com lockdown?

Well, Shakkara joined SB.com a good few months ago, and proceeded to toe the borderline between irritating and Trolling.
(making a point to brag on several occasions that no amount of effort by themods would actualy keep her out in the eventuality of her being banned)

Anyway, about a month ago now Shakkara finally crossed the line and got herself a temp ban.
She then proceeded to re-register..... multiple times. Changing IP's and ISP's (amongst other things) to curcumvent blocking measures implemented by the mods.

The lockdown is a temporary measure to keep her out.

I have to wonder who would go through such tedious measures as switching ISP's just to circumvent a ban on a message board ...

I don't think it entailed a hugely complex process, probably more a case of having more than one available. There was also some bragging about routing through lots of different places.
I think she was a bit of a HaXor myself

But yes, I do think it was incredibly infantile.... Almost as if her whole goal in life was to piss off the mods and the members of the board.

Well, I posted it in feedback to see if they know what's up.. if it's even at thier end.
Though we are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are,--
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.

Since no one has spelled it out yet, the SB admins decided to disallow new member signups. SB hasn't been accepting new members since before Christmas.
It's not my place in life to make people happy. Don't talk to me unless you're prepared to watch me slaughter cows you hold sacred. Don't talk to me unless you're prepared to have your basic assumptions challenged. If you want bunnies in light, talk to someone else.

Well there's away to promote inbreeding right there.

Which reminds me, SD.net is once again bloated with about 150 more idiots who register and never post.

THEY MUST BE CLEANSED.
