You have to know some things about zombie movies.

ANYONE who fortifies themselves all eventually die.

Anything short of a Monster Truck cannot get more than 30 yards on city roads.

Reload times == death to the hordes, never put your self with a lot of ammo in a one exit room, unless using neo reloading(drop your weapon pull out a new one, requires lots of guns) still unlikely to the hordes.

Now what I would have to prepare for the dead.

1)Lots of bottle rockets/artilery shells, In Dead Reckoning(Romaro's new 4th installment of "of the Dead" movie) the operators of the Dead Reckoning use fire works to distract zombies as the blow their brains out.

2) A sword. I'm still debating the type, a short sword brings you a little to close, a larger sword has fewer strikes for when swarmed, falchions and other one edged swords would be good, but having to strike many targets at several angles might result in a fatal striking with the dull edge and getting swarmed. Axes are to slow, pikes are useless up close, bashing not always a kill, and you could get that fatal ankle biter that brings you down and lets the hordes envelope you, flails are no good for up close, some more exotic weapons might be better, but none I could think of off hand(wrist strapped weapons don't give you the flexability of a short sword but come with the lenght drawbacks, polearms are BAD for hordes, sais/daggers might work as short range defensive weapons, but would probly require the droping of primary weapon)

3) Gun, with sniper scope, and lost of ammo. Picking off the dead accuarately and from afar.

4)Handgun, preferably a magnum and a 9mm for when too many get too close and a machine gun is just not aquirable.

My right now plan would be to gather up my dads tools and implement of distruction and try to make the 45 minute walk(probly longer treking through the highways to avoid dead central, aka downtown, and get to the local Alamodome, where a monster truck rally is about to happen, steal Gravedigger, for humor purposes, and drive my way over cars and zombies to the local airforce base and get myself to where ever the military is making a stand.

For the zombie slaying something like a spatha (see the weapon maximus has at the start) or a heavier variant on a stav axe would do well.....

You'd find the stav axe ideal I think...faster than you'd guess and you can use it at the full length of the handle or in close.

Is it double edged?
Its a single edged thrusting axe, with a good sized cutting blade....I'd want it a little heavier to go for de-cap shots with than it is normally....I'd also probably add a backspike personally....

Yes.

The Zombies will be making a beeline for the closest homes.

You may quickly find yourself surrounded.

make him an offer to be his 1 necro and lead the army of death muhaha

and here we go:

Evil sorcerer in league with the dead
Magic in the night, forbidden spells are read
The fog lies thick around the cemetery maze
To unveil the future, the spirit he will raise

Dressed in the stench of death
Possessed by Demons breath
Far beyond the limits of time
Recite the ancient spell
Summon powers from Hell
Gaze beyond the limits of time

Evil sorcerer, the grave is open wide
Spirits are invoked, the Devil is by his side
The ritual proceed and he give the spirits birth
Offspring of the Damned, Satan´s children walk the earth

Seeing as how I don't have firearm training, give me my neighbor's 80-pound pull hunting bow, a staff (not sure how I'd carry it...maybe not a staff) and a knife. As long as they only approach in 2-3 (like in the originals), I think I could take them on fairly easily. Since they're slower than normal, training in three martial arts and archery should suffice to beat most zombies. If it's the pack hunters, give me a car, the keys, and a full tank of gas, 'cause I can't handle large numbers. If at home, I run like the proverbial bat. If at school I run to the ROTC building and hope they've still got the examples of live ammo from the periodic demonstrations they do, and that one of the ROTC people will be bright enough to have the same idea (Spud probably would, even if he is from Idaho ).

A little bit of prayer and a lot of luck.

Also, much as I doubt it would work, my car and a full-enough tank of gas to get me to the nearest airport. I'd grab a knife and a baseball bat, as those as the most convenient weapons at my disposal, and a few books (no damn zombies can keep me from a good novel). From there, I'd call family in another state collect, ask them to buy me a plane ticket, and fly away. When the whole zombie crisis blows over, I'll head back home and learn how to use a sword, which I will buy.

Well dying in dreams always sucks...also for Living Dead vs me...I'd take loved ones and run, having very little weapon selection aside from swords.

Though I'm sure the amount of firearms in DC should nicely mop up the zombie fest problems. :D

I live in Canada, therefore I'm safe. Did you ever notice that no zombie movies ever take place in snow and -10 degree weather? Zombies are stiff enough already, without being frozen.

That's brilliant! GO TO CANADA!

If I had firearms training and a second story (don't wanna go too high in case Zombies weaken the building's structure) room with enough supplies to last me awhile, I'd build a rampart of the dead! Let the zombie corpses pile up until they have to crawl over their dead comrades to get me (which, if I understand correctly won't happen, because Zombies don't have the mental capacity to climb.) and when they try I will shoot them and they will be incorperated into my made-from-scratch fortress!

I live in Baltimore... when the dead get up around here, that just means it's Super Tueday and they're going to the polls to vote for a Democrat.

Seriously, my first reaction would be to get the hell out of dodge, fast. Fortunately my car is good for 300 miles before refueling. I'd get out of the city *fast* and when I'm at least 100 miles away, *then* check the news to see how widespread it is.

By the way, anyone in DC can just hide in the Capitol building: if it's brains the zombies are looking for, they'll know not to look there

I had a dream last night about it, too. I woke up laughing my ass off because it was a dream of me and my buds doing exactly what I said we would: get in a pickup, get the beer and rifles, and cruise the streets of Buffalo shooting zombies. I even grabbed a zombie I shot and was manipulating it to say "My cat's breath smells like cat food." It was funny as shit. That's a dream to treasure forever.
