Is there any official spelling for Alterran? I'd be curious to know if it was spelled Alterran if you get my drift.

Someone over at sb.com posted a low-end 12-17TT yield (depending on how well they did the scaling).

I think at the very least this is a very impressive big bang, especially considering the shield was leeching most of the energy from the explosion into powering the shield.

For some perspective, this is the equivlent of annihilating 2,214 tons of matter.
I think we can safely say that Naquadah/Naquadriah is a Zero Point Energy source.

There isnt enough mass in the gatebuster nuke to account for all the energy.
Thats almost certainly how Naqueda and Naquadriah work in the first place. The level of power they generate and how they increase explossive yields of nuclear level events.
I've always had the idea that Naquada isn't some exotic new element, but literally a microscopic ZPM. When it's ripped apart in any kind of explosion, it releases all its energy. Maybe Naquadriah is a microscopic implementation of the device from Trinity...

A nice idea, but I'm pretty sure they are minning rocks, not tiny little subspace power batteries.

Is that not how Terran is pronounced? T"air'ren?

Am I saying terran wrong all these years?

Well, most rocks are atoms arranged in a crystalline pattern.

Who's to say, you know?

I just got to thinking:

Tauri meets Goauld, Tauri gets Goauld technology, despite hostilites.

Tauri meets Asgard, Asgard gives Tauri some of their technology.

Tauri discovers Ancient technology, Tauri keeps Ancient technology (and one city)

Now Tauri meets Ori.

a good SG1 ep of course

whilst the gatebaster nuke was impressive, I wonder just how much energy it takes to crush a planet sized object into the size of a subatomic singularity? :?

alterran would be pronounced with emphasis on the R sound. I pronounce alteran with an emphasis on the e. i can't remember how to write pronounciation keys or else i'd be able to explain better :?

Ludicrous and it is more a matter of energy density rather than energy itself.

To compress matter into neutronium requires the electron cloud of all the molecules to be stripped or collapsed into the nucleolus, this requires violating pauli exclusion principle which keeps an electron cloud from collapsing. You only see this in neutron stars greater than about ~3 sollar masses at < 20km distance. That is some truely crazy forces.

Now, to compress the neutonium into a point singularity requires some rather crazy abilities.

However, collapsing a stellar body into a blackhole has been done before on Stargate. Mostlikely this is the result of a complex interia manipulation field which alters how the electrons interact and ultimately how the strong nuclear force behaves (or supressing the weak nuclear force + electromagentic, that would do it too).

Why isn't "Altairan" spelled like the star "Altair"? Makes most sense to me, I havn't seen anything on Gateworld.
