Kosh's last moments (Spoiler)

Post by Rathark »

The link below requires a SPOILER WARNING for anyone reading - or planning to read - Jeanne Cavelos's "Passing of the Technomage" Trilogy.

It is an extract from the first chapter of Volume 3: "Invoking Darkness", and depicts the scene in "Interludes and Examinations" where Kosh is curbstomped by some pissed-off Shadows ... from Kosh's point of view.

I'm not jumping to conclusions, but this might prove handy in any future debates regarding the Vorlons, whatever side you're on.

Actually it doesn't really provide much in ways of Vorlon or Shadow strengths.

well it actually does.

the one thing that's missing to actually quantify it howerever is how much energy was necessary to blast through Ulkesh's encounter suit.

We know how many shadows were there to assasinate Kosh and we know how long they took to do it. If we can get the energy requirement to break through Ulkesh's suit, then we can get the power output for a shadow armed with those energy whips.

In one of the (supposedly) canon books Kosh supposedly didn't fight back against the Shadows that came for him as a way to make up for the Vorlons directly confronting the Shadow fleet. Besides that, Kosh certainly wasn't focusing all of his attention or self on the Shadows since he was telepathicly in contact with Sheridan at the time. Plus he left part of himself with Sheridan as well.

Kosh knew what was coming. He had prepared and was leaving a large enough part of himself in Sheridan to keep him safe. From a later episode you can see the encounter suit afterwards, it looks almost as if the Shadows had used their front 'Mantis' claws to rip him out, and tear him to shreds psychokinetically. Really I don't follow books to find out what happens in the minds of other fans I try and logically figure out what happened. Kosh was allowing himself to die.
But I still hold with the idea that a fully armed and ready vorlon is almost impossible to kill without heavy energy weapons.

Heh, I got the books, I remember some time ago when the abilities of a shadow came up some people where screaming something along the lines "Dem's shooting INFECTED light PURE EVIL!!1"
So, it's light, so what?
"IT'S INFEECTED!!!!!!"

Ugh that was annoying, style over substance personified that was.
Those who beat their swords into plowshares will plow for those who did not.
