What SW ground force to kill a Fido?

What SW ground force to kill a Fido?

A Fido From Total Annihilation, has been placed on a generic Starwars planet which is similar to Endor. ie A planet in the middle of nowere.

What SW ground force would it require to kill it?

For this debate, the low-end calcs Alyeska made(Thread here) should be used. From the stats Alyeska worked out, you can dervive the # of KT per point of ingame damage/health. Thus calcs for the Fido can be created. For the Calcs, I used 12 KT per point (rounded down)

The Fido can :
  • Take 12 MT of energy (1000 ingame hit points)
  • 1.44 MT (120 ingame damage) a shot every 2.6 seconds, or 23 shots per minute, 33.12 MT/minute.
  • Moves @ 21.0 m/s (75.6 km/h)
  • Can accelerate @ 1.2 m/s (So would take 17.5 seconds to reach full speed)
  • Turns @ 148 degrees /second
The last 3 entries are taken from ingame, hover the crusor over a unit & hit F1. Brings up some stats for the unit.

Your telling me 1.44MT and it often takes 2-3 Shots to set a tree on fire with said Megaton weapon?

Ok I'm gonna have to read back over Alyeska's work here before I make any comments

Oh and for the record a Single Tie-Fighter can take it down by siting above it on Repuser-lifts and pummling it with Laser-Blasts(Its weapon can't fully depress so strait above is safe)

Also a TIE Bomber-Missle or two should put it down

Well, after thousands of years of warfare that have wrecked the galaxy, clearly the only surviving trees are those that evolved to withstand megatons of damage. :)

Could some Mod clean up MKSheppard double post?

Well, there is the issue of scaling (ranges & distances) of the map VS the unit. The game engine does have limitation; cant change the landscape, cant have more than 3 weapons on a unit, scaling is wacked (Just as well, I dont want to try & select a hyper/super-sonic fighter), limits on what the weapons can do, etc.

Anyway I though the Fido's weapon tended to vape the trees instead of just set them on fire.

But at least 1 shot by the Fido's weapons should set the trees on fire!

The only defence I really have for the burning trees hurting TA units, is it is 1 of the few methods of interactive terrian the designers had.

:)

A bit of info I forgot to add:
The Fido's weapons is a Gauss rifle. The round apparently has a high velocity(manual), but ingame the actual velocity isnt that fast. By inspecting the game model you can see the round that is fired is large, and I would put the size of the Fido to be a bit larger than a modern MBT(lot taller, but similar width & length).

What is the output of the TIE-Fighter's laser's again?

It is probable iffy if the Fido can track & engage the TIE's while they are flying, but hovering it should be able to hit them.

I agree a TIE Bomber-Missle or 2 would take it out.

I knew I should have stated no spaceships :(

What about non-spaceships?

The Fideo Can't depress its weapon all the way up nor even most of the way up(Roughly 60% is the best it can do) Meaning any decenty skilled TIE Pilot can pound away with its Kiloton lasers until the Fido dies

None starships?
Most of the assult walkers could do it but it would be a "Who can shoot first" contest
