Posleen Horde battlefest.

Post by TheMuffinKing »

By a quirk of Q, the legacy of the Aldenata spreads to these various universes.

Posleen hordes spew forth from hidden wormholes in space as a test by Q.
Forces consist only of a scouting force of 5 globes.

He's bored and decides the best entertainment would be to find out if these groups are fit enough to survive! Who stands the best chances?

Anyways here are the defenders:

1. Chimera controlled Britain. Posleen land in London. (From Resistance Fall of Man)

2. Stroggos, the Strogg homeworld, during the Marine invasion, landing on the Nexus.

3. Earth, circa C&C Red Alert time period, just before Yuri's revenge.

If it's written by John Ringo, then the Posleen destroy every country without stars and stripes on the flag. </snark>

The thing to remember is that the Posleen are utterly rock stupid, and will lose to any military with the kind of resources that most sci-fi nations seem to have.

I object. Clearly right wing Waffen SS ubermench can also triumph over the Posleen. :P

Evil Russians despite having the anti-Posleen advantages of nukes, lots of artillery, and cold weather still fail though.

Yeah, anyone with brains and good "huge stupid horde" killing weapons is going to do well against them.

Oh yeah, my bad, the SS could totally beat the Posleen. I won't forget again!

I'm just waiting for the book where Ringo has a bunch of Japanese Guadalcanal survivors rejuved and put into an ACS battalion.

Um, I think it was Krantman who wrote the love-letter to the SS, ie: Watch on the Rhine, as well as claiming that all green party members are evil, and praising the new german dictatorship... and having the French be completley corrupted and hopeless at war (well, he wasn't too far off on that one, but still,)

that guy is whack. Has anyone read the comments on some of his boooks on Amazon?

scary.

Ringo on the other hand seems to ust be very pro-American, apple pie, an dthe Army Corps of Engineers, not anti everything else.

He also has a sense of humor, which makes him much easier to read than Krantman.

Did he mention anything about any Stalingrad survivors rejuved to defend umm... Stalingrad (Volgograd), again?

As do the Panamanians with some US aid.

It was actually a collaboration, though I'm not sure who did more of the writing. Kratman is a little loopy, not nearly as bad as "Orson Scott Card Empire" loopy, but it still stretches belief a bit. Let's just say one of his books was a Texas wanker's wet dream.

Oh yeah, that one. Can't remember the title exactly, (got it from the library, an dhave rued the waste of my life ever since.)

Didn't it involve an evil lesbian president forcing the right to get abortion on all the freedom-lovin' states, and Texas rebelling to preserve the ability to prevent abortions?

speaking of abortions, the books really should have been. bleah.

No, I'm pretty sure he's completly batshit fucking insane, his last two books(A Desert Called Peace and Carnifex) were full of gems. I especially liked the parts where they perform sex-change operations on muslim terrorists before hanging them.

Kratman wrote almost all of it. From what I've been heard, Ringo's collaborations seem to be basically him giving a plot premise to someone and then acting as a primary editor to ensure nothing screws over future plots he plans to use. Probably 90%+ of the writing is the other author.

Personally, I couldn't get through more than three misanthropic chapters of Wacht am Rhine before giving up on Kratman as a hopeless waste of paper and ink. I'm also deliberately avoiding Ringo's Kildar series for its misanthropy and misogyny. If I want good ground military sci-fi, I'll stick to Drake.

A State of Disobedience. I checked it out from the local library, I don't remember too many of the details either except Texas starting a revolution after a shootout in a mission or church. It was pretty bad, but at least it didn't have a secret Mecha army taking over NYC like OSC's Empire. God that was bad.

The Kildar series is so bad that it's good, it's like a cheesy 1980's action movie. I more or less treat them as a parody of Richard Marcinko's Rogue Warrior novels, seen in that light, they ain't so bad.
