Transformers Animated: Show clips and action figures.

Post by DPDarkPrimus »

San Diego Comic Con is a gold mine for new Transformers info.

Clips of the coming animated series.

Some Movie and Classics 2.0 figures. Animated figure pics start on page 3.

Holy shit those figures are awesome. And the show looks pretty decent, too.

Oh god...

It looks like Ben Ten... Or any of CNs other series in the last four years... That bad "we wish we were anime" look... (Works for B10... but god it didn't for TTs and I don't think it will for Transformers...)

The facial expression just... looks so wrong... >_<

It's by the same people who did Ben 10.

And it looks great, what are you talking about. A heck of a lot better than the "blocky budget CG robot" look of the past few cartoons.

I wasn't a fan of the static designs when they first leaked it online, but I have to admit seeing it animated it really looks much better than I expected.

And I'm surprised that they made transforming toys out of them since the designs look too simplistic for actual transformation.

I'd gathered...

It's not the action, the style is very condusive to action, and they've seemingly put alot of effort into it...

Specifically, the bit where (I assume) Prime says 'think of it as an upgrade'; Starscream's(?) grin and a couple of other things...

Watched it again, and not quite as bad as the innitial reaction... still, not sure I like the facial expressions... but it may be worth a try. Likely won't be any worse than the CGI/Animated Armada series they've been playing. Then again... I don't watch much on their daytime since they stopped showing Courage regularly.

Looks like they're taking the "guns are bad, m'kay." approach for the most part. Other then that, look pretty good. Glad to see my favorite Dinobot, Slag is back in action.

I don't like any of this. Pure crap. Pure unadulterated crap. The toys themselves are horrible. They look like they've been raped by a compactor. The only thing I saw that I liked was the toy for Nightwatch Optimus but even then WTF!?! What is the explanation for the "AllSpark Power" and the black and blue colour for Optimus?

Gimme the G-1 and Beast Wars Transformers any day over the current shitstains (except of course the movie too. ).

*shrugs* Transformers has always been roughly half-anime in the first place.

Why can't they do a pure CGI transformers show like Beast Wars but with G-1 transformers?

Evil Optimus. It's a catch-all name, I think.

Namesis Prime/(anybody named Scourge past G1) is basically the idea of an evil Optimus Prime. The original "Evil Prime" Scourge(Black Convoy) appeared in Robots in Disguise, as the leader of a group of Autobots that were reprogrammed by the Predacons to be bad guys, thus calling themselves the Decepticons. IIRC, RiD Scourge was a dark grey and black repaint of an Generation 2 Optimus Prime toy.

In Transformers: Armada, during the second half of the story, several Autobots were attacked by Nemesis Prime, a creation of Sideways, which was an evil clone of Optimus. This bot had an artifact in it's body called the Doomstone, which basically fed off the pain, despair, and such of those Nemesis Prime killed. The Doomstone was later used in an attempt to destroy the Minicons' Linkage, turning them back into mindless weapons. A Nemesis Prime toy was released as a black, blue, and grey/silver repaint of Armada Prime.

A Nemesis Prime appeared in Transformers: Universe, as an alternate version of Optimus Prime from a universe conquered by Unicron. He was a repaint of Big Convoy from Beast Wars Neo.

A Nemesis Prime, created by Dr. Arkeville in an attempt to take over the Decepticons, was made for Transformers: Alternators. He was, naturally, a black and blue repaint of Alternators Optimus Prime.

In Transformers: Cybertron/Galaxy Force, Scourge(Flame Convoy) is the Evil Prime.

In short, whenever an Optimus Prime toy is released, there's a roughly 50-60% chance that one or both of two repaints will be made:

A white and blue for Ultra Magnus, or a black and teal/tan one for Nemesis Prime.

Because trying to cater to an ever-shrinking and ever-more cynical fanbase is a losing business proposition.

As long as it holds to some of the core features that define "Transfomers", we should at least be willing to give it a shot.

In other words: Try judging Transformers on its own merits, not by how close it resembles Generation 1.

I prefer the original coloring of him, which should be hitting stores soon.

Enigma wrote:What is the explanation for the "AllSpark Power" and the black and blue colour for Optimus?
"Allspark Power" is the name for the continuation of the movie line through late 2007 till the end. Nothing more, nothing less.

The blue Optimus Prime is a leader-class repaint exclusive to UK retailer Argos.

The last two Transformers shows were CG and they were crap. Animation medium does not equal instant quality show.

Energon and Cybertron. CGI robots mixed with drawn anime. Nothing like the greatness that was Beast Wars.

Well I would like another Beast Wars type CGI show but with G-1.

Loli transformers? This that I may have to get used to, otherise it seems good. It doesn't seem Animeish, as its art is too blocky and square to be the "LOL JAPAN" type. It will probaly be good, but if the speculatioon is correct, it may be a rescue heroes Transformers mixed in with some Armada style space related plot.

That animation style doesn't do a whole lot for me, and the whole "Optimus Prime wielding a SPACE AXE" thing turns me off. Bleh. Oh well; I was never a huge Transformers fan to begin with.

The toys look good. I'd like to get my hands on the new Blitzwing.
Please do not make Americans fight giant monsters.

Those gun nuts do not understand the meaning of "overkill," and will simply use weapon after weapon of mass destruction (WMD) until the monster is dead, or until they run out of weapons.

They have more WMD than there are monsters for us to fight. (More insanity here.)

Considering how damn useless guns were in G1 (no one can even hit the broad side of a barn), I'm hoping we'll see more dynamic combat scenes in the new cartoon.
