Any space battle better than Endor?
Battle of Endor was a good space battle scene.
So, is there another battle scene out there that is better than Endor's?

Humm...In ST a few of them good but not on the scale of Endor.
B5 space battles are quite good but most are very short.
Andromeda space battles were very slow for what i have seen.
Farscape had very cool and intense space battles.
Haven't seen Battlestar Galactica so can't say anything.
Can't remenber anymore Sci-fi shows right now.
The best candidates IMO are B5 or Farscape.

Endor kicked ass because it looked really real- the stuff used was models, not CGI.

Most Sci Fi space battles look incredibly fake. Parts of Endor do as well, such as the intital swarm of TIEs appearing out of nothing. But overall I would say its the best space battle I've seen.

When i watched "Sacrifice of Angels" i expected a big battle, a nice big battle. What did i get? Two walls firing at each other, fighters moving here and there and then some ships going past a hole in the other wall.
The same with Nemesis, damn did that film disappointed me.
There aint many space battles who can compete with Endor, I dont think there are any other space battles that good.

I still prefer the race through the trenches of the Death Star in ANH. Endor was still cool, though.
The space battle in EpIII had better blow them all away, though.

Believe it or not, I think the best Trek battle I've ever seen was in a cut scene for a video game. It's the one where you're a Klingon officer. It was a really large-scale battle. There were a lot of ships. It was pretty cool, from what I remember.

I concur. I expect to see at least several hundreds of fighters on screen at any given time during the battle, with massive amounts of capital ships blasting away at each other. I want it to make Endor look like crap. I want to see why Anakin was the best pilot the galaxy has ever seen in this battle. Have him do seemingly impossible feats in a fighter. Rack up his kill count to wings of fighters. Man, it would be great...Durran Korr wrote:The space battle in EpIII had better blow them all away, though.
EDIT: Ah, yes, of course! We need to see the younger Rebel pilots from ANH! Gold Leader, I think, was the guy that told Luke his father was a great starfighter pilot. So these ANH pilots should all be Anakin's wingmen...that would be cool...and would tie in well to the OT.

Most of the ANH pilots where little older then Luke. Only a few if any could have been around to see Anakin flying first hand in the Clone wars.

That's exactly what I was going to say. That was the first and only battle that I thought beat Endor. Yeah, it was kinda short, but far more intense than Endor.jaeger115 wrote:the battle of Coriana 6 in B5. Fucking awesome....

Almost all of Battlestar Galactica's battles have been focused around the Vipers, so you typically don't see much. There was one case of the Galactica using some sort of beam-cannon on a Cylon Basestar (and blowing it to hell, IIRC) but again, most of their battles are one-on-one.Darth Phoenix wrote:Haven't seen Battlestar Galactica so can't say anything.

I don't think anything tops the battle of Endor. The reason it's so great, IMO, is that not only is it big, long, and hard ( ), but it's also extremely well-directed, so that you understand precisely what's going on in each shot. Even as a child, I knew what was going on in the battle, and could follow the story of the battle through its different stages.
Compare this to wimpy ST battles, or confusing aerial battles such as in ID4...that one looked pretty neat, but it was just chaos everywhere, it didn't provide any real reason for the chosen shots. Plus, it had Harry Connick, Jr.

And you may ask yourself, 'Where does that highway go to?'

The Wrath of Khan space battles are easily my favorite. Gritty, personal, evely matched. Very well done. A space battle does not have to be hurried along or have the enemy ship pounded to scrap in a matter of seconds. I want a well drawn out battle with character interaction.

Yeah! I also liked the Battle of Coriana 6 in B5, and I liked the SoA battle more than the other posters did, but I think that the best sci-fi battle was Endor. Incidentally, I'm moving this to "Other Sci-Fi," so people who are not "warsies" can talk about what their favorite battles are, too.Alyeska wrote:The Wrath of Khan space battles are easily my favorite. Coriana 6 was one of the best but for sheer drama and intensity the battle where the shadows strut their stuff against the Narn was great as well because you really could feel the tension and the hoplessness of the situation. The music was also particularly effective.
Here's a dark horse candidate, The Ent Nil's battle with the Romulan warbird in BoT. An entire episode dedicated to space combat, exceedingly rare in Trek. It had dramatic tension and a good opponent in the Romulan COmmander, Mark Leonard making his first but certainly not last appearance in Trek.
